Fresh and flavorfull ”Skagen”

A light lunch made up of a Skagen sandwich with nice pieces of tofu and so much flavor, a cup of herbal tea and an excellent cinnamon bun 😋 No problem being vegan here! Lovely little spaces to sit around the whole house and outside.

Swedish classics veganised

Cosy and quaint fika place. Loved it that they serve the typical Swedish dishes in a vegan version! We had a ‘skagen’ (sandwich with vegetables, dille and a ‘fish’ salad) and a ‘selma’ (dessert cream bun, only served between Christmas and Easter). Other options on menu were a hummus sandwich, a hummus salad and 5 other desserts. Special coffees available with oat milk.

Lovely and highly recommended!

Pros: Local typical dishes veganised, Big portion, Very good price for quality

Really cozy and with amazing food and “fika”!

An extremely cozy and old school cafe which I’d visit every week if I lived in Kalmar! They offer vegan sandwiches and “fika”. Note that only some items are labelled “vegan”, but many of those who aren’t labelled as it are still vegan, so ask the staff. (When I was there only one out of four pies was labelled vegan, but when I asked it turned out that three of them was vegan). There are also other cakes available, several vegan options! The “skagen” sandwich was one of the best I’ve ever had, I highly recommended this place!

The most authentic cafeteria in Kalmar

It feels and looks like in someone's apartment. The cafeteria is located on the first floor right in the city center with a nice view on pedestrian zone. The coffee is really nice there and they have a good selection of vegan crumbles. However it is a shame that almost only the crumbles are vegan (at least the only labeled).

A cozy place with a history

This is a fine example of what swedes call "fik". Fik means a place where you both can eat cookies, pies, muffins and sandwiches. The fik is located in an old apartment where two siblings from Kalmar had as their home. They had a business on the bottom floor and lived on the second floor where the fik is now. It is decorated in a beginning of the year 1900 style and it feels very authentic with hand painted wallpapers and furniture and rugs that match that same era. What you can eat; a hummus sandwich, but you can also ask them to add their delicious bean salad on the sandwich also. There are also vegan options when it comes to their pies, hard cookies, chokladboll and snickers cookie. The persons who worked their are very friendly so just asked them what's vegan and they love to help you.

A lot of history

Usually they have a vegan hummus sandwich but its not always out for display! You have to ask. It is very delicious! mostly it comes with avocado and sprouts on a nice bread. THey also have the best pies in town! with nice combinations like gooseberry/pear served with soyicecream. So with it, ask the staff for the history of the place...

Pros: pies, nice interior, friendly staff

Cons: crowded, no vegan food for display
