Fine vegan dining at its best

Chef created superb vegan dinner for two. We didn't look at the menu. Restaurant was not busy when we visited and we chatted with chef, giving him complete freedom (other than limiting the meal to three courses). Five stars -- Happy Cow does not allow five stars for restaurants that also serve meat, maximally four. $$$ (good/excellent value for money). Also a hotel, we stayed overnight.

Pros: Best of the best vegan food.

A surprising, incredible experience.

We stayed at Kukuriku, because they advertise the ability to create a vegetarian menu (and a surprise, one at that), with wine accompaniment. We decided to e-mail them to ask if they could accommodate a vegan diet, and they did not hesitate to say yes. These are true chefs. We then had six courses of the most delicious, well-crafted food that we had ever eaten. They made a vegetable tar-tar, mushroom wine pasta, and roasted vegetables, among other courses. Both my husband and I felt very catered to. Do keep in mind it is not an inexpensive dinner. Part of the fun is that each course is a surprise. Expect to spend around $100 - $150 for two with a glass of wine, per person, each course.

The service was *perfect*.
