Spicy Vegan Ramen - Edit
Just like the description says. It was hot and just a slight kick to it. Perfect on a cold day

Amazing vegan ramen - Edit
We only tried the ramen but it was top notch, comparable to some vegan options I've had in CA and even Japan. Far better than anything we have in Phoenix too! Definitely recommend

FIVE STAR Vegan Ramen - Edit
I ordered the Vegan Ramen and the Takana Onigiri (Rice ball stuffed with pickled greens wrapped in seaweed) for takeout.
Read moreThe ramen was absolutely amazing! The noodles were cooked perfectly, and came topped with kombu, ginger, green onion, and fried shiitake mushrooms which were excellent. But the star of the ramen was the broth. Wow! Super flavorful, a little spicy kick, and slightly creamy. This is a must try.
The Takana Onigiri was pretty good, but I was wanting some bolder flavors. I may try the Umeboshi Plumb one next time, and I will definitely be back!
PS: An amazing vegan meal shouldn’t be restricted to four stars just because they cater to other diets. I feel thankful when any restaurant has such wonderful vegan options as this.

Delicious authentic Japanese - Edit
We ordered 2 vegan spicy miso ramens. The broth was slightly creamy and very flavourful. The house made noodles were perfectly al dente, had a nice bite, flavor and were silky. The bowls were topped with fried shiitake mushrooms, sliced kombu, pickled ginger and green onion. The mushrooms were delicious and we loved each and every bite of them. They also have a more simple shoyu ramen, we’ll have to try it next time. Also loved how friendly and kind the owner was. He came to quality check the food and chatted for a bit. Very nice and welcoming. He told us that he has spent over 10 years learning Japanese cuisine and opened Kukai with his partner who is also actually his Japanese teacher - she makes all the sushi there. This cute little place is located in the MSA Annex - a trendy community of 15 eateries & retail shops made up of repurposed shipping containers. If we ever come back to Tucson, we will definitely be back here and I highly recommend anyone to check this place out. The food is authentic, delicious, well thought out. The service is great, genuine and very friendly. The atmosphere is super cool - love the repurposed shipping containers. I would give this place a 5 out of 5 but happy cow only allows me to give 4
