Wasn't the best - Edit
A few decent vegan options but wasn't really keen on the food, slow service and they forgot a few of our dishes despite writing it all down so had to wait even longer, and also I found a big piece of string in my rice.

Not ‘ all you can eat Thali’ but a fair portion….cold though- very slow ! - Edit
Friendly staff- but a very long wait for our food-and we were the only customers. Arrived cold-ish but we ate it regardless! So little options in Stone Town that we hoped for much better all round.
Read morePros: Vegetarian only, Good beer selection
Cons: Slow, Like a school cafeteria-no atmosphere at all! , Nothing labeled as ‘vegan’ that we could see

Decent food, good value, great service - Edit
A great place to get good, filling, value-for-money food! I found the staff extremely helpful, friendly, and accommodating. They were willing to explain the whole menu to me and offered lots of vegan options. Tasted just like good Indian food should taste! Definitely would recommend.

Slightly disappointing food, rude waitress - Edit
Ordered the cauliflower tikka masala, which was only mediocre (and this would already be a generous description). One of the owners or waiters was incredibly unfriendly and responded rudely when ordering or when asked a question. Overall service was slow, even for Zanzibar standards, where “pole pole” is the norm. Overall not a pleasant experience.
Read moreThere are plenty of other options available in Stonetown and Zanzibar generally. I would definitely go somewhere else unless it was the only vegan option available.

Now called Krishna House - Edit
Good vegetarian and vegan thali. Serves booze and pretty easy to find. Cheap Indian food and one of the few places in town that is fully vegetarian, if not the only one. A life saver!!

Good food, mediocre service - Edit
The title kind of says it all. The food was good, but the service is really lacking. Just no friendliness and a bit pushy. Except for the fact that I think it’s important to support veg businesses, I’d almost say just go somewhere else (there’s tons of vegan food in Zanzibar because the cuisine has so many vegan options).

Nice veg place in stone town - Edit
The restaurant is no frills plain and simple, but the food had nice flavour. We found it a good portion size for the price.

good food! - Edit
I went with samosas which were very good and served with a decent coconut chutney, as well as a cauliflower tikka masala. It wasn’t mind blowing but I enjoyed it and would have it again. Also got the seasonal juice (passionfruit) which was very good. All for 19,000 shillings. It’s a good option for vegans and I’ll definitely visit again.

OK Food, can be improved a lot - Edit
I had thali here in Feb 2018 and the food was insipid and mostly tasteless - Dal was sour and chick peas had a burnt garlic after-taste. Roti was good though and service wasn't too bad either. Then I discovered a better place in the town to eat veg food!

Good food but service and atmosphere disappointed - Edit
I ordered seasonal juice which took 20min to arrive and it was nice. I got the soup after 30min, it was good but ordinary. The cauliflower masala arrived after 40min and it was really good though not as spicy as I hoped. The atmosphere wasn't great, plenty of people watched a football game and cheered a lot.

Waiting for Krsna - Edit
The second of the veg*n options in Stone Town was disappointing. Whilst it seems popular with local residents as a cheap meal option, the interior has a dull ambience and the staff member who took our orders seemed bored and unfriendly.
Read moreWe found Radha's food to be uninspiring. Maybe she's still waiting to meet Krsna!
My partner's choice of masala fries was off-putting as soon as we laid eyes upon it. It was drenched in tomato sauce and no real evidence of true masala. The dish looked sad and tasted same. My curry was fairly staid although the rice was good.
Locals dine there which is often a good sign however we felt it was a bit shabby looking, lacked atmosphere and food freshness.
Pros: In the heart of Stone Town
Cons: Drab

Yum! - Edit
We had lunch here and loved it. The menu is pretty clear, but the waiter also could help guide us to ensure no butter or cheese sneaked in :-). The Indian food was delicious, and the space was comfortable. This is definitely a casual place and the prices were appropriate. Would return.

delicious Indian - Edit
On the last day of our trip, we ate lunch here with another couple. We ordered items that looked vegan and confirmed they had no dairy of any kind. The wait was a bit long, but the food was quite delicious when it arrived. The samosas were so good that we ordered another plate. The ceiling fan wasn't working that day, so it was quite hot, but we still appreciated having a veggie place to go to.

They custom-make every dish. Very good fresh Indian food. Not vegan but able to accommodate. Wander over to the waterside markets after dinner for a fresh sugarcane juice.

fantastic pure veg food! - Edit
We ate here twice while in Stonetown - both times with non-vegetarians who were really really happy! The thalis are a great deal and all the other dishes come with chapatti and rice. Give the tikki masala dishes a try - especially the cauliflower - soooo good! Their coconut chutney is to DIE for : ) highly recommend eating here!

Great Indian Vegetarian Food - Edit
Now called the 'New Radha Vegetarian Resturant' they offer a good variety of vegetarian meals, starting with the Thali at only TS 10,000 (about UK £4.00). They also have many alternative main meals, all of which come with rice and bread included, and range from TS 10,000 to just TS 11,000. Although we had vegetarian meals both times we went, they also confirmed they could do Vegan, or other variations, as each meal is cooked separately. Great food and great value.
