Great for comfort, spicy and rich food!
I was positively surprised when I realized Krimsey’s Cajun was 100% vegan. They also have great brunches but ONLY on the weekends.

Unique and Tasty Vegan - Edit
Probably one of the best vegan restaurants in LA. You know it’s legit because they have Crystal hot sauce on the table. I love the grits and greens with sausage.

Stellar breakfast and lunch - Edit
Fantastic grits/greens, sausage (maple bacon French toast), hushpuppies, red beans and rice. Pancakes were very fluffy, good drinks—we had mimosas, berry Chardonnay, and strawberry lemonade. Didn’t care for the gumbo (I’m more of a red roux gal anyway).
Read moreI’m from the south and make hushpuppies and grits/greens often. I have to say I was impressed. So were my family...and after they all said the grits were “very good” I gave them the stink eye and they said “but not as good as yours, mom”. Lol
Also, they’ve got a good selection of games in the corner for kids or fun adults! Try the alligator dentist one. We laughed and laughed!
Pros: Stellar southern eats, Fun/authentic atmosphere

What a gem! - Edit
So unique and so delicious. You can get deep fried things here as well as clean healthy things so it really worked for all types of eaters my my vegan crew. My friend had grits and hush puppies, Lover had pancakes and roasted potatoes and I had the Cajun salad and potato salad (legit clean!). They do not go out of their way to create gluten-free options, but there are several gf items and they are well labeled. The location is deep NoHo so not somewhere I am - ever - so that’s the only thing keeping me from going back immediately.
Read morePros: Healthy salads, Great upcycled decor, Rainbow flag
Cons: Could use more gf substitute options

Great atmosphere and incredible soul food - Edit
This was the first vegan place I tried after moving to LA and it did not disappoint! I haven’t had hush puppies since going vegan and the ones at Krimsey’s almost brought me to tears they were so good! This was also my first poboy and my lord that bread is fantastic! The music and atmosphere of Krimsey’s is so unique in a place like Los Angeles, it makes me feel at home. I have brought every friend that has come to visit, vegan or not, to Krimsey’s and they all agree its some of the best food they’ve ever had!

Satisfying Enough - Edit
The food I’ve had there was fulfilling enough, yet lacked flavor and seasoning for my taste. The environment is casual and nice. They have the best vegan chocolate dessert I’ve found thus far and sometimes go back just to order the Mississippi Mud Cake to go.

Deliciousness! - Edit
I’m a big fan of Krimsey’s, I have had their Cajun bowl at festivals and always loved the spices and flavor! Their cafe has a fun atmosphere with great decor and music. I got the Fried Green Tomato Po’Boy, corn bread and a side of fried okra. Amazing!! All of it was so flavorful and delicious. There are so many great options on the menu I will definitely have to come back to try everything!!

Tried the PoBoy (with hearts of palm) and their Jambalaya m. Both were exceptional. Their house made chips were killer. Offering beer and a wide variety of plant based options with a creole/Cajun twist. Very charming place.

Decent Brunch - Edit
A group of us went for Sunday brunch, and we came out with mixed reviews. The maple bacon French toast and red beans and rice with a side of collards were clear winners. The pancakes were a little too thin, wish they’d added baking soda. The rice dishes were just okay.

Comfy place, awesome food - Edit
With a variety of choices, you’d have a hard time making a bad selection. Service is quick and friendly, order at the counter and they bring your food right to your table. I had the Fried Green Tomato Poboy with the Dill Potato Salad as a side, both of which were totally delicious, and I had enough to bring home leftovers for a light second dinner. The Bayou Goddess Bowl was also great, especially with an extra side of sauce. The Beignets are worth a stop in alone!

The food was very tasty. I decided to try this place while I was in the area and I am happy that I stopped here for lunch and I will definitely come back. I really liked the restaurant but was a bit disappointed from the food. We had hush puppies & fried jalapeños first - very good but very heavy. I loved the sauce.

Strip Mall Prize - Edit
While working in the area and passing strip mall after strip mall populated with lots of Mexican fast food I didn't want, I rolled the dice with Happy Cow and it happens I was a half mile from Krimsey's. What an unexpected surprise! Cool looking place with a great menu (the wooden menu is physically nice, too). I got there 15 min before end of the lunch special and grabbed Taste of NOLA, I think it was called; Jambalaya, spiced collards and cornbread. Really good, and nice portions! Iced tea was good, too.

It's tasty - Edit
The only things worth while here are the shrimp po boys and the hush puppies. Don't get the rice, it's not creative and they don't make the sausage from scratch. I think it's field roast so that was disappointing. Definitely get the hush puppies.

One of my favorites - Edit
Krimsey's is such a wonderful place! Best thing by far are the Palm Po Boy sandwich, hush puppies, fried okra, corn dogs, corn bread, cajun fries, both beignets and the jambalaya. The employees are very friendly which is always nice. Only problems for me are the price, a few options gets very pricey, the parking and the long ticket times. None of those things deter me from going though. It's still one of my favorite places.

Vegan Cajun! This place is a must! - Edit
I'm really glad that a place like Krimsey's Cajun exists - vegan Cajun restaurant, who would have thought? Not my visiting friend from Chicago; he wants to return here on a future visit! The food is fantastic - great flavor, many options, good portion sizes. The spot itself isn't huge but I've never seen it too full, and the parking lot outside is tiny but street parking is available. On my last visit, for 3 of us, we got hush puppies, fried pickles, the Gumbalaya with cornbread, and two different kinds of poboys, the New Orleans (with hearts of palm) and the fried green tomato - one of those with a side of Cajun potato wedges and the other with chips. It was quite a delicious feast!
Read moreThe only downsides to our visit were, 1- they didn't have any biscuits & gravy left (we were there around 2pm, brunch menu is available until 3pm.. hence why we ended up with 2 Poboys which were still good, but really craved some biscuits & gravy), and 2- after we were done with our meal and wanted to get the Voodoo Brownie Beignet, we were told it would be another 30ish minutes for those to be made (we were on a schedule and didn't have the opportunity to wait longer.. I had them before but really wanted my visitor to try; next time, I guess!).
Aside from those 2 hiccups, we enjoyed our food and the atmosphere. I even ended up buying a bottle of their homemade Cajun ranch!
Recommend: hush puppies, fried pickles, Gumbalaya bowl, Jambalaya bowl, cornbread, New Orleans Poboy, Voodoo Brownie Beignet
Things to note:
- the parking lot is small and tight, you're better off parking on the street or surrounding neighborhood
- free wifi!
- they sell a number of items ranging from clothing to bottles of their Cajun ranch or Cajun spices
- order dessert with your meal just in case there is a wait time
Pros: Amazing Vegan food, They sell food & goodies, Great atmosphere
Cons: Sometimes there is a wait, Sometimes they run out of foos
