World-famous bialys

Bialys are a type of bread that originated in Bialystok Russia. Kossar's was the first US bakery to sell bialys, and this is their main branch. The bialys here are usually warm and fresh--eating one is like getting a taste of history. Whenever I have been here, I only get their bialys, not their bagels--but their bialys is what makes this place special.

Bialys and bagels are almost always vegan, so that they are vegan here is not that surprising. Though the bialys here are great, it should be pointed out that this is not really a vegan bakery or vegan coffee shop. Having said that, the bialys here are great (and vegan), so is you are on the lower East Side, you might want to check out this place (and then eat the bialy while it is still warm).

Good bagels

There are 3 tofu spread flavors: plain, scallion, and vegetable. There's also avocado. Not as many options as some other bagel places, but nice if you're in the area.

Pros: Good bagels , Quick service

Cons: Few vegan options
