leftie vibes - Edit
we really liked the atmosphere here even though the music was a bit too loud in my opinion. you should know that it looks more like a bar than a café, despite the name. the interior is promiscious and vintage and kinda cool.
Read morealmost all food is vegan(isable), you can replace cheese with vegan cheese and sour cream with tomato sauce. it would be nice if they had vegan sour cream tho. the portions are rather cheap and we didn't have to wait for long.

Unwelcoming - Edit
Arrived at café because the website said it was open. Staff was inside, but told us Easter Sunday was closed. That was our 2nd attempt to eat there: the first one failed because they refused to make a sandwich in a reasonable time.

Good Grub - Edit
I had the vegan pizza & my girlfriend had the vegan doner with a curry sauce, both were really good, the pizza was on a very light flaky base. Nice vibe in the place too with lots of seating inside & out.

Check the buffet before you order - Edit
I get why people like this place. It's cozy, it's fairly inclusive (not for wheelchairs, though) and trans* people don't have to worry about that terrible toilet debate. You got a decent vegan selection on the menu, replacing dairy with soy milk doesn't cost extra and their coffee supports Zapatistas in Chiapas, Mexico and the Regional Indigenous Council of Cauca, Colombia. Hooray for that!
Read moreBut seriously, what's the hype around the breakfast buffet all about? Maybe we caught a bad day, but the selection that was on offer wasn't really worth the price and as a vegan more than half of it was not suitable for me, so when it comes to inclusion this was one more point where they failed. Even my vegetarian friend was underwhelmed. Granted, I got bread rolls, hummus (which was far from spectacular) and some other dips, some salad, fried tofu chunks, stuffed vineleaves and soy yogurt, so basically the vegan appetizer plate from the menu, but on my second trip to the buffet (it might have been 1:15 p.m. by then, not sure anymore) most of it was gone already and didn't get replaced anymore, which was kind of okay because I didn't feel like I was missing out anyway, but I still felt kind of cheated knowing that omnivores got a selection that was twice as big for the exact same price. Had I looked at the buffet first before taking a seat, I probably would have just ordered a pizza or a tarte flambée. So I'd reckon the buffet is a good opportunity for ovo-lacto-vegetarians and omnivores, but to any vegans who consider going I'll give the advice: check the buffet BEFORE you order.
All in all I like the place for the causes it stands for, so I'll round up my 3.5 stars, but I wish they'd show acknowledgement for veganism not as a diet, but as a political stance against oppression of human and non-human animals alike, and as a boycott of products that unnecessarily contribute to climate change. Something just seems off, if the chili sin carne with organic soy costs exactly the same as the chili con carne with organic beef.
The coffee is good, though.
Pros: Cozy atmosphere & good overall mentality, Fair pricing, Tasty coffee
Cons: More vegan & less omni options would be nice

Hip cozy atmosphere and good food - Edit
It's my third time here already and if I lived in Wiesbaden, I would be a regular for sure.
Read moreThe restaurant is very cozy, filled with plants and the music is great. The walls are full of stickers and posters with a range of social causes.
Although the menu is not entirely vegetarian nor vegan, there is plenty of very good options to choose from. You can just grab a chair, sit the whole day and enjoy the nice atmosphere. I highly recommend coming on the weekend and getting the früchstücksbuffet.

Great place - Edit
When you visit Wiesbaden, visiting Cafe Klatsch is an absolute must: They have a great philosophy (paying good wages including sufficient insurances, no hierarchies, food and drinks from fair trade sources, etc.) and they offer a lot of clearly marked vegan food items like salads, pizza, chili sin carne and also a vegan breakfast. The prices are pretty good for what you get, but not extremely cheap like at some other alternative cafes.

Klatsch is cool - Edit
This is my favorite bar/cafe and it's what makes Wiesbaden liveable. The only thing I can think of which I might list as negative is the slow service. But this is Germany. No one expects fast service. It's just part of the atmosphere and you get used to it or stand up and find someone to take your order. You can go here alone and just read one of the leftist publications, peoplewatch, read a book. There is no Coke and no requirement to even order anything. So just drop in and hang out!
Read moreOh, I think they're closed on Mondays.
Pros: totally relaxed, cozy, no pressure to order, wacky background music
Cons: slow service, not always friendly servers
