Gyoza is the strength

Edit:
At the end of September 2022 they owner published that they have closed the restuarant, it has been a staple for over 20 years by this point so it hurts a lot, regardless of the developments.

Edit:
After my latest visit here I have to lower my rating, this place sadly have decreased (also they seem to have new personal). I had Gyoza as a starter and this still hold high quality, but my Mapo Tofu main was not good (for example it looked very bleak). I am really sad because this for a long time was one of my favourite places in town.

Previous review:
-----
The strenghth of this place is it's wide vegan menu and the Gyoza.

It used to be fantastic and real nice personal, however as the owners are the personal and they are starting to age they are a bit confused and slow so be ready for that and also language issues.

The food is still really good, but they would benefit from younger staff now. It's clear they are pension aged and deserve it.

As I mentioned the Gyoza is fantastic, the homemade tofu is also one of there clear strenghts, the sushi is different but good.

Cute place

I like Kokyo, they have a full vegan menu and it’s really tasty food. They make the tofu themselves and the staff is super friendly.

Absolutely classic

This is a place I've held dear for a good 20 years, I can hardly believe I had yet to review it. Heck, I even had my introduction to sushi here, and distinctly remember "wasabi" being mentioned and me and my company completely misunderstanding what was said, as we were utterly unaware of what that suspicious green stuff was. Oh well, it's been a while. It's been so long, in fact, that Kokyo recently changed ownership, yet the concept remains pretty much the same. And as far as my own experience goes, there might have been an occasional less-than-inspired evening, but on the whole they continue to deliver. I would particularly recommend gongbao surou, as it is a dish whose texture is truly something special. Something else that is known to remain almost unchanged are the prices, barely adjusted for inflation. As such, Kokyo offers some of the best value for money in the whole of Stockholm.

Basic/quirky interior. The place seems popular with locals. There was plenty of vegan choices. The food is tasty, fast service and friendly / courteous staff.

Pros: Plenty of choice , Value for money

Cons: Tofu curry was just a little greasy/oily

Brilliant

Large vegan menu. They make their own homemade tofu in different shapes/ flavours which is delicious. Service was excellent, the waitress was so friendly and helpful. Get the tofu stew. Prices are reasonable as portions are quite large.

Pros: Lots of vegan options , Excellent service , Reasonable prices

Average

It's a Japanese restaurant but it's not Japanese food at all, not bad but nothing special either. Besides.. expensive for portions you get.

Typical Japanese food

This place is a typical restaurant run by a Japanese family.
We were welcomed by a very sweet and cute woman who I think might have been the grandma ^^
They offer plenty of vegan options and even have a special vegetarian menu which is actually vegan!
We tasted the dim sum, the "meatballs" and another tofu dish and it was delicious; maybe a bit too "fat" though!
Portions were quite big so unfortunately we couldn't taste the desserts.

Pros: Traditional food, Many vegan options, Homemade tofu

Cons: "Oily" food

Good food - confused service

3,5 stars!
I liked the food here and would probably go back just for the tofu platter starter which was the perfect way to start our night. The service, however, was a little confused and pulled down the over-all-experience a bit. Not rude or anything, just didnt feel very professional. With that in mind - I could recommend this place as it has a large selection of veg food to a very decent price. We were both happy with our dishes!

Great tofu

I had a little trouble communicating with the waitress here - she didn't speak English or Japanese, I didn't speak Swedish - but I managed to order a fantastic plate of tofu sushi, which I'm still thinking about a year later. The textures and flavours are unique, and definitely worth trying if you are in Stockholm.

Best vegan sushi in town

I eat here almost once a week.

Lunch is very priceworthy for being in the city centre. Starter with one spring roll/small glass noodle sallad always include in the lunch. If you take a gyoza + veg main dish package it is a 3 course lunch.

Kokyo serves the best vegan sushi in town. That is 5 cows.

The old couple running the place are very kind and cute. Coming to the restaurant on bike with vegetables and fruits.

Pros: Nice sushi, Various dishes, Family based restaurant

Cons: sometimes slow and confused service

Fantastic dumplings

All the vegetarian options here are also vegan, so there is plenty of choice. It's a nice little restaurant that got full very quickly, so it may be best to arrive early. The sushi is nice, but the dumplings are much better and have three different fillings. There are even vegan ice cream options for dessert too. Really nice!

Nice tofu place

All their vegetarian options are vegan. Many dishes are with their own tofu. The food tastes good, but after one has been to places like Lao Wai in Stockholm, Kokyo does not impress.

Pros: great choice of tofu dishes

Cons: more flavours needed
