Vegan bentos but check their website before going

They frequently have a vegan bento, so check their website beforehand.
The weekly menu is posted on Sundays.
Take a look at the «Bentos végétariens», and then you need to see the allergens as vegan ones are not labeled. For instance, today they had deep-fried tofu with buckwheat noodles which is vegan.

The bentos are rather good, remind me of real Japanese bentos.

Pros: vegan options, tasty

Cons: not all vegan, doesn't label vegan, not always a vegan bento

Hard to find no savory vegan options (left?)

Took us a while too find. Not a place to sit down. Just take away. No savory vegan options. Maybe we were too late at 5 pm?
So we went to subway on the other side of the road

Unique find in Paris

First a word of warning about Paris. If you're not interested in that, skip the first two paragraphs. Before my visit to Paris, I used the Happo Cow website to select the restaurants I would visit during my stay. But when arriving in Paris on a Monday, I found out that most restaurants are closed on Monday. Except for some juice bars and fast food places, most proper restaurants are closed on Monday. Don't the French eat dinner on Monday? It's weird, but now you know.

Since most vegan places are closed on Monday, I set the filter in Happy Cow to vegetarian. Not much luck with vegetarian food on a Monday either. So I loosened the filter once more and accepted "serves meat, but vegetarian friendly".

That's how I found "Koedo". Koedo is a real Japanese "bento shop" that sells traditional Japanese lunch boxes (although it's open until the evening, so you can also use it as dinner). It's run by real Japanese people and it's real Japanese food not altered to suit the French taste. Bento shops are everywhere in Japan, but outside Japan they are a rarity. What a find!

It seems like the first reviews on Happy Cow sent a lot of traffic to Koedo, because they now offer both a vegetarian and a vegan bento box. I bought the vegan one and the taste is absolutely 100% true Japanese. The main ingredients are rice and daikon. The latter is prepared very well (not too hard, not too soft). Side dishes are two kinds of sea weed (hijiki and wakame), tofu, a piece of broccoli and some carrot. The box may look small, but it's a good and filling meal.

Since Koedo sells genuine Japanese food and they offer both vegetarian and vegan options, I recommend going to this unique place. It's located at a train station called "Issy Val de Seine" and you have to go up the escalator to the platform (it's near the over ground train, not the metro) to find Koedo. You don't need to have a train ticket, as the shop is located just before the ticket barrier. Order in French, English or... Japanese!

Excellent take away!

You just need to ask not taking the egg to have the choice between 2 delicious vegan healthy meals. It looks simple but trust me, it's delicious! They put many different kinds of tastes and textures inside the bento so that at the end you feel totally full and satisfied. The staff is also lovely, run for that place and ask for more vegan stuff so that they can replace the egg by a vegan nicer option :)

Pros: Good food, Nice staff, Service efficient

Cons: You need to ask to remove the egg
