Modern Healthy Vegan Cafe 🌱 - Edit
Read the Vegan Tokyo Guide on https://itravelforveganfood.com/vegan-tokyo-guide/
Read moreKo-So Cafe is a modern vegan cafe in Ebisu. It has a nice selection of pasta, curry, desserts and more.
The soy milk coconut cream pasta is creamy and nicely seasoned with a coconut milk flavor. It would be better if the sauce is thicker and sticks more to the pasta. But overall the quality is good.
Kudos to the use of a stainless steel straw for the drinks. The detox brown smoothie uses banana, roasted brown rice flour and other ingredients.
Pros: All vegan, Stainless steel straw for the drinks, Nice environment and friendly staff
Cons: Pasta sauce is a bit watery

Amazing cakes - Edit
We just ordered two cakes, for dessert: the lemon soy milk tiramisu and the buckwheat flour millefeuille. Both were amazing, especially the tiramisu. Cannot wait to have them again, and I will very soon!

Great food - Edit
Very good Italian-style vegan dishes. Our son slept through our visit so we asked if you could take some food we left on our plate for him - which was not possible, for some odd reasons.

Small cafe with lovely staff and great ambience. We went to have lunch, but ended up ordering most of their menu because everything was just so delicious. The buckwheat pancakes are really decadent and incredibly delicious.

Brunch spot - Edit
My friend and I travelled here to get breakfast - unfortunately it didn’t open until 11 which was our mistake for not taking note. The menu was changed over every day and not everything that is on their website is available to order this was disappointing as we had hoped for the pizza. I got the pancakes instead and they were delicious and very filling. Menu is not ok English and hard to decipher although it is all vegan so you’re safe in that respect.

Loved this cafe - Edit
We had a false start getting to this cafe - we tried on a Friday night when they should have been open until 9:30 but they had closed at 8:00 🙁. Undaunted we tried again the next day for lunch and I’m glad we bothered. The meals were filling with some great and different options for vegans. We added a salad and dessert slices to our meals and although portions weren’t generous for these items, it was all delicious.

great vegan eats. there is an English menu! - Edit
Cute and lively place 3 minute walk from the north exit of Ebisu station. This place now has an English menu. The roasted brown rice tea was good. Spring roll was tasty with some kind of yummy sauce in with the contents. I had the pasta verdura with vegetables. A helpful English-speaking patron helped me ask for it to be made spicy and it was really satisfying. I'd recommend this place to anyone. Thank you to the kind person who helped me!!

Would not go again - Edit
I went during the cafe time between lunch and dinner and I was the only person in the restaurant at first.
Read moreThe waitstaff politely asked me if I was okay with a Japanese menu.
I really wanted something fresh like a salad, but the menu seemed to have so many cream sauces...not my sort of thing. The waiter did offer to make a pasta salad into just a salad for me, which was kind, even though I didn't take him up on the offer.
I got a black carrot tea, coriander pasta salad (salad with a pasta on top) and half a vegan pizza.
The waitstaff warned me that the pizza might take a long time, but it was out before I even finished my pasta, which was great.
I steeped the tea for one minute and it was almost tasteless. I thought the waitstaff recommended one minute but I'd steep it much longer next time if I ever had it again....
The salad was pretty fresh. The pasta was a bit too oily and needed a bit more flavor in my opinion. However, once I got the pizza I appreciated the pasta more. The pizza didn't look like any pizza I'd ever had before. It was more like a very heavy flatbread. The vegetables on top were cooked unevenly-the one on the left was charred and the ones on the right weren't really cooked. The vegan cheese was really soft and I didn't find it appealing.
I finished all the pasta and tea, picked the vegetables off the pizza and ate them and left (except the charred one).
Unfortunately, I think dishes like the pizza give vegan food a bad name. It is the shape of something you remember eating before you were vegan, but the taste is totally different and, in my opinion, unappetizing. I wouldn't take non-vegan or vegetarian friends there to introduce them to vegetarianism.
I'll give it three stars as the pasta was not so bad.
Pros: Food came out quickly, Polite staff
Cons: Not a lot of fresh dishes, Some dishes cooked unevenly, Taste wildly varies between passable and bad

Precious gem - Edit
I was really happy to have such a great place near the airbnb I’m at in Tokyo. I’ve been there a few times and loved everything I’ve tried! Unfortunately half of the menu was sold out every single time I was there, I hoped to try more of their foods if I happen to go back during my last days in Tokyo. Great menu, friendly staff and a cute place!

I am on biz trip in Tokyo and found this place near my meeting place. It was very good. I had a curry , taste was very good, it just was too soupy in a way, but again good taste. I had a smooth which was good and finally a dessert which was amazing( see the pic). I will definitely come back!

Great, Cheap Pancakes! - Edit
Very surprised about this place! Stumbled upon it, ordered the pancakes and salad and was pleasantly surprised at how filling and delicious it was, pancakes moist and delicious, as well as how cheap it was to! I also got the dessert which was sweet potato mont blanc, very tasty as it wasn't to sweet but subtly so with a strong sweet potato taste. The pancakes were great, and I believed very well worth the price. The salad also came with three types of dressing, which was cool to test out and mix together which I liked best, as well as some crumbled "feta cheese" (It's all vegan!) that was very nice as well. Love this place! Without the dessert, the price would have been around 800 yen but with it as a set was around 1,000 which in my opinion is very worth it, especially considering the area in Tokyo. Would definitely come back again! It is very close to Ebisu station and definitely not that hard to find.

Average hipster kind of place - Edit
I tried the soy milk and mushroom pasta at Ko-So cafe and it was pretty average. Felt it was a little overpriced, but then again it is in Ebisu. Personally, there are other places I'd prefer to go where I could get portion sizes, tastier food for less money.
