Very tasty all vegan food - Edit
Update:. I find it a pity that they turned to selling more fast-food like food, mostly with fries. For example, before, they had seitan stew with a wonderful potato mash and apple mousse and salad. Now it's with french fries. We visit less now because of that.
Read moreI've been here a few times now, always took the stew (stoverij), which is so good. Today I was a bit less hungry so I chose the club sandwich. It was so tasty! Can't describe it, but the different flavours are a match in vegan heaven. Also, this is a complete meal, it fills well. For dessert I have tried the snickers, the twix and the 'speculoostaart', all are amazingly good. Will come again soon!
Update visit of 30 march 2023
We received our stews without apple puree, when I asked the waiter about this, he fetched apple puree for us. (If you've never eaten the stew, you may not notice this was missing)
The stew was different than we were used: the potatoe mash and the apple puree were normally amazing, now both were okay but not outstanding. I told the owner when he asked how the food was. The apple puree was different because of different apples being used.
He went immediately tasting in the kitchen and admitted that the potatoe puree was not how it should be and he had already solved this by adding ingredients to the remaining batch. He was happy that I had told him and gave us the amazing snickers as free treat, which was very attentive !
Update 23 april 2023:
Tried the cheese croquettes today, and they are wonderful. The frangipane cake was not bad either.

Delicious place with plant-based menu, a very nice sustainable she nearby. Perfect to enjoy a good meal or enjoy a moment with a good coffee. The interior is spacious and welcoming with bright light coming from the ceiling windows. The food is more on the junk food side so perfect if you are looking for this!

Beaucoup trop cher ! - Edit

Absolute gem in central Gent - Edit
First, the vegan shop attached to this restaurant was a lot bigger than I expected. It has produce, bulk goods, and an excellent selection of specialty vegan items.
Read moreThe restaurant itself is also great. The menu has a lot of traditional Belgian dishes as well as things borrowed from other areas of Europe and the Middle East.
We ordered the kaaskroketjes and mouhamara appetizers, which were both excellent. I had never had anything quite like the kaaskroketjes before and I would definitely order them again.
For our main courses, people in our group ordered stoverij, kebab, bolognese, and lasagna. I believe everyone enjoyed their meals. The lasagna was excellent. I believe it was gluten-free and I would not have guessed it.
I'm not sure whether reservations are necessary, but I would definitely recommend them as it got very crowded on a Saturday evening.
As you can see from the photos others have posted, it's a big place with high ceilings and a very pleasant atmosphere. Highly recommended!
Pros: Excellent food, Outstanding vegan shop

Nice modern decor, great food - all vegan - Edit
May 2024
Read moreBeen here a couple of times in the last year. Good food. (Have had sandwiches, Flemish stew,...) Nice shop. Some products that are not so easily found in other shops. Would love to see some more vegan specialties though (thinking of offer we saw at Veggie4U).
Ordering is with QR code, which I do find very impersonal.
Service is reserved friendly, although often with a sort of witty/exclusive attitude, which is not really my kind of thing. I often leave feeling like I said or done something wrong and been told off like a schooler... 😉🤷♀️

Had a nice lunch. Club sandwich was very good.
-----
End of 2022
Shop is all vegan now! Interior has been renovated.
Seating area is now mainly on the left, didnt feel as cosy as before.
Some nice vegan products in fridge (vegan cheezes), would love to see them have more offer though (saw a lot of products that one can buy in any organic shop).
We had a pie, snickers and coffee. They didnt have any red fruits tea.
------
(2019)
Resto is at the back of the BEO versmarkt = the shop - selling organic produce - lots of stuff in bulk too). The shop is not all vegan, but the restaurant is.
We were confused though with the mention of 'toast with eggs' on the menu (and no mention of it being a 100% vegan resto anywhere on the menu), and double checked with staff. Yes everything is vegan, the toast is with an egg replacer (I think it was nut based). They don't mention vegan on the menu because this reportedly could scare clients (non-vegans) away (but on the other hand, it almost made us leave as we thought it was all - or nearly all vegetarian instead of vegan). So I would definitely prefer to see a clearer mention of it being all vegan.
We had a soup of the day (pumpkin soup), taost with eggs, tahini and za'atar, and the raw lasagne. A fresh juice and a glass of wine (wine is vegan too). Didn't have to wait long for our drinks and food.
It all tasted delicious. The raw lasagne was rather heavy with a lot of olive tapenade though. The egg on the toast resembled scrambled egg (texture and taste), and was nice too.
There are about half a dozen cakes to choose from for dessert. We shared a carrot cake with cashew cream. Yummie.
Atmosphere is quite nice. Modern bright decor, spacious, lost of wood. Accoustic not so good though (also noise from the shop).
Plus points for being fully accessible (accessible toilet too, clean)!

Great location, lovely atmosphere, great interior, friendly people and above all delicious, fingerlicking food! A lot of different options. All friends (whether it is from abroad or from Gent itself) left satisfied and I return here very often. Great (but expensive) little supermarket attached to it too!

Great Snickers bar - Edit
Spacious and light filled location with friendly staff. I had the Vol-au-vegan, a "snickers bar" and a piece of speculoos cake. The snickers and cake were great the main dish was not so much my thing. I do like Seitan but the mixture with the sauce and mushroom just wasn't to my taste. The fries didn't taste like much unfortunately, they looked like they were hand-cut and freshly prepared so maybe this harvest wasn't great. Anyway I would visit again.

A lovely all-vegan restaurant (and small supermarket) in the center of Ghent. They have a varied menu with some really nice dishes.
