This place was a great find! A lot of options, all vegan. Great staff and I loved the restaurant. Had a really cool vibe and was different. Mac n Cheese was good but not AMAZING. Didn’t have a ton of flavor. Deep dish was again good but nothing out of this world. (I’m comparing to Purgatory Pizza in LA) I wasn’t disappointed with my food, I really enjoyed my dinner but I expected it to be better from the reviews I read. #eatingwithshelbie

My review is based on my experience of their food at the VegExpo in Milwaukee. Very friendly service and under extremely busy circumstances. I thought the deep dish supreme pizza was good , not great. Not enough ingredients for $7 a slice and sort of bland for my tastes. Really enjoyed the texture of the crust. Also had a slice of cookie pie. Real good overall, and slices were huge. Frosting was far too sugary for my tastes.

the menu is ALL vegan and rather large. you can make your own personal sized deep dish pizza. They had a ton of amazing looking cakes at the counter (funfetti, chocolate mint, cookie pie, chocolate cherry, etc). the portions are generous but make great leftovers. the seating is adorable and there are board games around. it was perfect

I love everything about this place. The room is welcoming and comfortable, with a wall of windows looking onto Broadway. There's a shelf of games, which half the patrons were taking advantage of when I was there. And the staff were super knowledgeable and friendly. They have thin, pan, and deep dish pizza (I've never seen deep dish vegan pizza) -- I had a personal pan pizza, which was out of this world. The burgers and fries looked fantastic, too. I ordered a piece of Triple Chocolate something-or-other, which was the size of my head -- I took it home and nibbled on it for the next few days. It, too, was absolutely delicious. I couldn't feel luckier that I live right around the corner.

Just moved down the road from this cafe and I was extremely impressed! Super cute inside with games if you’re planning on eating in. I ordered carry-out and waited about 5 minutes for my food. It was very filling (I got the buffalo cauliflower wings) and probably the best i’ve ever had! The cold brew coffee and peanut butter cup were both amazing as well! I’ll definitely be frequenting this place :-)

I finally made it here for the vegan pizza! I ordered deep dish with artichokes onion and spinach. Very good. All it needed was a bit of salt to bring out the flavors. Looking forward to trying more here - and they have a catering company with meal plans. The info is above the water area!

Vegan Mac n Cheese circle tour - Edit
Great place! Fun friendly staff. Our server made his special version of Mac n cheese... omg the best ever I’ve eaten .... believe me I have tried Mac n cheese in every vegan restaurant from here to St. Louis to Denver Colorado. I also tried the cheeseburger pizza ... which was weirdly delicious. Next time l am in Chicago i will come back to try something else and of course the Mac n Cheese !

Read moreKitchen 17 feels nice and cozy with their selection of board games and books, art on the walls, and friendly staff. Their food is delicious and has a "homemade" feel - they make their own meats and cheeses! I also really appreciate their tipping policy - they pay their servers a living wage so tipping is not necessary.
Unfortunately, they have very few gluten-free options and no labeling, so I've had a harder time eating here since going gluten-free. However, I've enjoyed eating their gluten-free appetizers - spinach artichoke dip with chips instead of pita is AMAZING, so gooey and delicious. My non-gf vegan friends love their other options. Please consider adding more gf options so I can eat here again!!

We came for dinner and had the cauliflower bites and a deep dish pizza. Both were excellent! My husband, who is not vegan, jogged most of the cauliflower bites; the pizza was satisfying deep dish style and I even had leftovers the next day (great again, heated up). Oh, and a slice of the chocolate sheet cake for dessert- so good! The vibe is also really cool. Definitely check this place out!

The cauliflower buffalo wings were very flavorful, but they seemed to have too much sauce and were a little soggy. The deep dish pizza was delicious too, but it was a bit soupy and liquidy. Overall, the flavors were good, just the way they were prepared wasn’t quite right.

I have eaten here numerous times. I've never had a bad meal. It's a very laid back place, with the owner being the cook, waiter, janitor, greeter, etc, so you have to come in expecting to wait a little for your food. It's a very small place, with seating for about 16.
Read moreToday, I had the Buffalo Greek Burger, which was exceptional. The gyro is the best in Chicago, in my opinion. The desserts are also very good.
Update: While K17 remains very popular for many, the general vibe is that the food and consistency is spotty. They have moved to a new location, which has more seating, but the restaurant appears to be understaffed which may be what is causing the service and food inconsistency. Additionally, the food is very rich and oily. Some people love this, for me, it is too much and I cannot eat the food.

My boyfriend and I have been here a ton and we love all of the food we have gotten from here! In terms of their appetizers, the chili cheese fries rock, the buffalo wings are perfectly 'meaty', & the nachos (maybe too small of a portion) are DElicious. The pizza is sOoOo good that even days we promised we weren't going to order one, weee still ordered one... I'd certainly recommend N.Y. style- fully loaded if it's your first time! They have plenty of options in terms of sandwiches & burgers as well. We normally don't do burgers (our personal preference) but their 'chicken' sandwiches are equally as satisfying as a real chicken sandwich! They recently moved locations to be right off of Broadway Ave. which really balances the home style kitchen that you dine in. The staff is excellent and so down to earth. Please if your in the area & want amazing vegan eats, stop in Kitchen 17!

We were thrilled to see that there was an option for Chicago deep-dish style pizza. The crust is good and the texture of the cheese and fillings are really good as well. Ultimately where it falls short is in the flavors. The tomato sauce feels like it is just plain tomato, with absolutely no seasoning. The rest of the pizza kind of has that same issue, just overall lacking in flavor. It's a shame, with a couple of small flavoring tweaks, this pizza could be insanely good. It is a bummer that it doesn't quite make it over the finish line.

i don't get the hype. we had the pizza, which was decent, but the bottom crust was oddly hard. also had tacos with rice and beans. the rice was very dry and the beans were sweet, i couldn't finish them. i wouldn't go out of my way to go back.
