Chicago's Best - Edit
After eating at most of Chicago's vegan places, I feel like I have a good enough feel for this cities vegan food to be able to confidently declare Kitchen 17 the best vegan place in Chicago. They have the best vegan pizza in the city, and even do vegan deep dish. I only wish they had more topping options (specifically mushrooms.) Their burgers are even better. I'd have to say that they have the best vegan burgers in the city. The staff is great too, and they've hosted some really cool events (Fat Tuesday pizza buffet.)
Read moreBut, the real lifeblood of Kitchen 17 is the cakes and desserts. I swear the baker puts crack in their cakes because they are too good. I have ordered several full cakes from here and they've all been spectacular. One of them I brought to my grandmothers 75th birthday party so I'd have cake to eat too, and the rest of my extended (and very non-vegan) family all said that it was possibly the best cake they'd ever had. And they aren't even that heavy. I literally ate the remaining half of the 12" cake the next morning and didn't feel sick or put out at all. I would highly recommend getting a full cake for an event, or just for yourself.
Pros: Good Pizza, Great Burgers, The best cakes you'll ever have
Cons: Wish they had more pizza topping options

Been here a few times and my first time was for their pizza buffet! They had pizzas keep coming and there wasn’t a time we had to wait. Take out orders have always been accurate as well. Staff is amazing! All the food is amazing even the non-pizza items. The desserts are great as well!

Best vegan Chicago pizza. Try everything else with caution. - Edit
After being really disappointed with the House of Za and their flavorless pizza I tried kitchen 17 even though it’s far from me. It was amazing. Tons of flavor. Everything house of za was missing. My carnivore friends loved it too. When I go to a new vegan place I usually order multiple dishes. I tried the chili, fries, spinach artichoke dip and a peach cake of some sort. The cake was soggy and without distinct flavor and everything was so oily it was soaking through the containers and bags. The only other tasty thing was the chilli. The fries were seasoned well.

Satisfaction - Edit
If you didn’t look this place up you wouldn’t know what it is. Comfy vibes with friendly staff. Board games to play and cocktails for all. Takes a while for the pizza(which it’s supposed to) so maybe call ahead if you’re in a hurry.
Read moreThe pizza was awesome! Really flavorful and had a hint of spice. Gooey insides, crunchy yet buttery outside. Easily feeds 2 possibly 3 if you don’t want to leave stuffed. Awesome spot, especially if you’re vegan and visiting from out of town.
Pros: All vegan!!!
Cons: Little pricey

Chicago Pizza - Edit
This is a really great place to catch a Chicago deep dish pizza, something sweet afterwards and a chilled out vibe. Lots of great options and the cabinet was stocked with amazing huge chunks of cakes. The deep dish maybe wasn’t quite as good as I had hoped, but since I never had a non-vegan one I can’t really compare. Otherwise a great effort and worth a visit anyway.

Kitchen 17 is AWESOME - Edit
I stopped by hungry and on my way to an appointment. Being in a hurry I didn't read the sign on the storefront window and all I saw on the menu were burgers and pizza, and saw a case full of delicious-looking donuts. I asked if they had anything vegan and was floored when he said, "Everything here is." Jumped for JOY!!! Delicious food!! Highly recommend to everyone, regardless of diet choices.

It was ok. - Edit
We came there on our last night during our trip to chicago. It was cold inside when we got there. We all kept our coats on. I ordered a cocktail but they didnt have all the mixes for it. The order of Chili cheese fries that I had came quick and it was special. I never had chili with chickpeas in it. The cheese was amazing as well. We also ordered the loaded deep dish. It was.. mehhh that was my first experience with a chicago deep dish and I was hoping it would have been better. Not bad but not great.

Food I had here was just fine. Wings got soggy real quick. Can’t remember what else I had. Didn’t get the pizza though, which is what most people talk about.

Best vegan pizza I’ve ever had - Edit
The mozzarella (made in house) is outstanding. It’s so delicious you don’t even notice how good the crust is until you stop and think about it. This is perfect vegan pizza, in a quirky and unassuming place.

My favorite Chicago vegan restaurant - Edit
I'm partial to American comfort food and this place hits the mark. No frills on the furniture and you bus yourself, but they focus on what matters, the food and variety. All great experiences so far including the vegan desserts. Bonus: tips are included in the price, which is just the way all restaurants should go.

Lunch - Edit
The staff friendly, my daughter had Mac and cheese and she didn’t enjoy it. My other daughter has nachos and the “meat” tasted like chili. She was not pleased. The deep dish pizza was delicious and I would definitely order their pizza any day. And a friend of mines had a burger which she didn’t enjoy. The cheese fries were delicious and the milkshake was also good.
