Serves meat, vegan options available. Simple Vietnamese and Chinese food place. Huge menu, includes 40+ marked vegetarian choices; has mock chicken. Reported closed April 2021.
Kim's is a Vietnamese restaurant with a huge menu, and it really makes a difference if you know which dishes are the vegan standouts. For starters, the Sweet and Sour Coconut Soup (with tofu/mock duck) is fabulous - lots of vegetables, and a coconut milk base with a great balance of sweet and sour notes. I've taken MANY visitors to Kim's and without exception, everyone loves this soup. It's a big bowl of soup, easily shared by 4+ people. A guilty pleasure is the Fried Crispy Tofu with Crunchy Garlic -- tofu cubes with a great crispy coating, tender tofu inside, and little bits of crispy fried garlic that are out of this world scattered all over the platter, all on a bed of lettuce with tomatoes and a nice vinegary sauce. (Make sure to ask which sauces are vegan). Then there is a special vegetable dish (I think the menu now calls it Vegetarian Lemongrass Wrap)-- translucent rice wrappers with a special container of hot water to soften them in, then a platter with a huge variety of things to wrap inside like a burrito - a tofu/mushroom stirfry, pickled daikon and garlic, cucumber, rice noodles and more, with that big variety of greens that make Vietnamese food so distinctive (lettuce, basil, cilantro or flat parsley, etc). So much better than pre-made fresh rolls, since the platter offers so many options for what to include in your personalized roll. I'm personally a big fan of the Vietnamese Crepe, which has a lot of bean sprouts inside a crepe with nice crispy edges - it looks eggy, but is vegan. It also comes with lots of fresh greens you can use to wrap around your crepe bites. Get a hot ginger tea, because it is super delicious -- sweet, intensely ginger-y, with floating slices of fresh ginger in it. With these choices, you'll need to take 3+ friends with you so you have all of these dishes as part of your meal! You'll still end up with leftovers that will taste great the next day.
I like this place. If I get a hankering for pho I go here. They have brown rice too. The service is fast. The owner is very "business like". Large menu.
