Just okay - Edit
I don't want to be too harsh because it was *fine*. I think I might be a bit spoilt by GREAT vegan places that I was actually a little underwhelmed by the options here, didn't seem to be that many, and the ramen I had was just ok, I wouldn't say this is any better than just going to a wagamamas.

What a find! - Edit
Delicious vegan sushi with a full separate vegan menu. Delicious options for adults and kids alike. Only in Bristol for 3 days, and will likely go back before we leave!

So much food! - Edit
Huge menu with loads of vegan choices. Recommend the volcano!
Read moreA bit pricey, but great as a treat. The cocktails were particularly good. The venue is beautiful also!
Felt a little rushed - we ordered a couple of plates to gauge the size and when we went to order more, we were told they would have to check how long is left on our booking before taking our order. Appreciate there's a limit on the table time, but it was an odd interaction and we were still out on plenty of time.

Incredible vegan options - Edit
I’m not used to going to a non vegan restaurant and having this many options! I found it so hard to choose and definitely over ordered because of that. The vegan tempura sushi was delicious! As was the nasu dengaku

Really lovely restaurant with delicious food & separate vegan menu - Edit
I loved that they had a totally separate vegan menu & the sushi was 10/10! Pumpkin croquettes and bao bun starters are DELICIOUS. We shared a volcano roll which was insane. Definitely recommend and will 100% be back.

Amazing! - Edit
Standout was definitely the apple & cinnamon dumpling dessert, but the veggie volcano roll was superb too - tempura-fried sushi so the sushi roll itself is both crunchy and fresh!

Fantastic! - Edit
Kibou is a lovely restaurant with a unique, beautiful décor. They have a separate vegan menu with a great variety of starters, mains, sides and desserts. There were so many great options that we found it very difficult to decide what to order. In the end we went for kabocha korokke (pumpkin croquettes) and yasai tempura for starters, and yasai katsu curry and mixed vegetable futomaki (sushi) for mains. All the food was excellent! The korokke were lovely and soft and full of flavour, the tempura was crispy and perfectly done and the two mains were also just delicious. They even had a couple of vegan dessert options including apple gyoza which we both ordered. It was unusual – I’ve not seen gyoza as a sweet dish before – and I was excited to try it. The gyoza were hot, crispy and served with a delicious vanilla ice cream and salted caramel sauce – so delicious!

5* if I could. - Edit
They have a vegan menu and the quality of food is off the scale. Their cocktails are also seriously something to talk about, or their pairings of beers to food also goes down a treat, amazing place to dine, I spent way too much money last time!

Delicious Japanese food - Edit
Kibou's vegan offering is just fantastic. The dishes are utterly delicious and beautifully presented.
Read moreThe layout of the restaurant is such that your table feels like its own little space, so you don't get distracted by other tables and have a really lovely time.
There is a small vegan dish of aubergine which I cannot recommend enough. Even if you don't like aubergine, and even if you don't like aubergine dishes where people promise you it's the exception, you'll love it!
Cool decor with animated fish and apples and things. Overall, an excellent restaurant. Well worth checking out even with all the other options in Bristol!

Good vegan options - Edit
Had a great vegan meal here. I had a selection of small / sharing plates (charred aubergine - a great recommendation from the waiter - mushroom bao buns and rice), and my partner had the vegetable katsu curry - all were delicious and we would eat them again. Food was clearly freshly cooked and arrived as soon as ready. Service was quick and friendly. Good atmosphere in the restaurant - almost all tables were in use when we were there, but it wasn’t overly loud. The restaurant decor appears to be a mix of traditional and modern trendy Japanese styles, with lofi beats music in the background. If you’re a fan of Japanese food I thoroughly recommend - we will be returning.

Amazing Vegan Japanese Food - Edit
Since opening, I have visited Kibou multiple times and it has become one of my favourite places for a great vegan evening meal. It’s rare to find decent vegan Japanese food but with a whole vegan menu on offer, there’s something for everyone. From ramen, to noodles, katsu curry and bao buns, sushi and gyozas; there’s honestly so much on offer here. I have tried most of their vegan menu now and I have enjoyed 90% of it. When the place originally opened their portion sizes were huge and great value for money, however, they have now HALVED some of their menu items and kept the prices the same which is terrible. All of their food is fresh and very tasty. The vibe of this restaurant is so unique and great for any occasion. I wouldn’t recommend as much now due to the reducing of portion sizes and it now being expensive BUT u still would recommend it to any vegan or non vegan who wants great Japanese food. I will return in the future but now I’ll be sticking to my favourite menu items! I recommend the Vegan Tofu Ramen and the apple gyozas for dessert!
