Best vegan chicken - Edit
The sweet and sour sauce didn’t taste like the typical sweet and sour but even better. Really nice texture too.
Good portion size rice

Delicious - Edit
We ordered the Duck Drunken Noodles and the Chicken Sweet and Sour. They were both fantastic. I wouldn’t normally order a sweet and sour dish but it was great. We were asked how spicy we wanted the food to be. We said spicy and it came out with a nice little kick to it.

I’ll definitely be back next time I’m in Auckland.

Fraught service. But nice food. - Edit
I was glad to have the chance to come here. Our non-vegan friends suggested it, so I was very excited, and was looking forward to it. It is always fabulous to be able to have free range on the menu, and we loved having so many options!! Unfortunately, the staff seemed frazzled, as though they had been slammed and we’re struggling to keep up. Our sparkling wine arrived warm (and when we asked for ice to cool it down, there was no concern about why). Then they told us some of the food we ordered was not available, with no offer of a solution. Why not say, these two dishes are not available, but we can offer you this instead, at this great price? And we were asked what temperature we wanted our food to be. I asked for my green curry to be hot, and it was mild. All good, but why ask? And then they got the birthday surprise cake wrong, bringing it to us by accident, which caused awkwardness. We were ok to take it, but we felt for the girl whose birthday it actually was, when hers came out. All in all, a nice enough meal. But I can get meh service at any Thai restaurant, and probably for a cheaper price.

Delicious Thai Food - Edit
I had pretty high expectations and I was not disappointed! We booked on first table so had half off our meals. We ordered three mains to share, my favourite was the Thai green curry and my husband's was the sweet and sour "chicken". The only reason I've dropped from 5 stars to 4 is because of the service from the waitress which was not very friendly. Loved the food and cocktails and will definitely be back next time we are in Tamaki Makaurau

Average night out - Edit
My partner and I decided to try Khu Khu as is was on our “to try” list.
Read moreAwesome to see an all vegan restaurant located on Ponsonby Road.
Atmosphere was okay - felt a bit awkward when we were having a conversation and you could hear us, not to mention everyone else’s convos.
The food wasn’t the best, felt a bit let down as there are other Thai residents within close proximity that does vegan Thai meals better.
It wasn’t the worst experience, however I think the meals could have been better.
If you do decide to try Khu Khu I’d recommend getting a table not next to the door. The restaurant is small and the door opens onto a table (not the best during winter).

Delicious food - and not just the usual Thai options either. We tried the sweet and sour ‘chicken’, the Panang curry and the crispy daikon (yum)! Would visit again

Yum food - Edit
Khu Khu used to be my go-to favourite vegan eatery in Auckland. The food, especially the panang curry, was always out of this world. My last visit was not so great however, portions were much smaller and most of the best recipes have changed drastically. Aside from the food, the staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful and the venue clean, modern and cozy.

Now we did go back and it was even better than last time.
The menu has slightly changed and you have more choices. Try the daicon as a starter as well as the beautifully presented fresh rolls. For mains every one is outstanding.

They use traditional spices paired with modern meat substitutes for example in the Beyond Meat Paw See Ew. The staff was super friendly and helpful in finding the best dishes to try and made us beautiful coffees and lemonade. My favourite dish was the Scallop Drunken Noodles. Highly recommend!
