Tasty but salty

Headed there immediately after hotel check-in - about 3PM, when the other two vege eateries nearby were closed, so I felt thankful to get a meal. Had not read reviews beforehand (too hungry to read!), so I had no preconceptions on arrival.

It was not busy at that time, and I didn't see anyone running the shop. Finally a guy working on a laptop, who I thought was a customer, came over. I did not interpret any rudeness in the service - merely lackadaisical. Just seemed like the laid-back style of a beach town. After I pointed to the buffet, he handed me a plate of rice. After I filled my plate (skipped the mock meats), I asked the price and he replied 50K and I paid. Self-serve buffets without fixed price, where the calculation of the price is known only to the cashier, are not uncommon. In Taiwan, prices are commonly calculated by weight, but the price per weight is usually not apparent (unless close attention is paid to the scales). In addition places that don't weigh, but just visually inspect, are not uncommon. Not surprisingly, such places often lack consistency. Personally, I only expect price to be reasonable - and less than US$2.50 for a full plate plus summer roll, during off-hours, easily met that criteria.

Everything was tasty but, other than the summer roll and plain rice, everything was much too salty for me. Fortunately, the other two eateries nearby don't have that problem.

Pros: Central location, near night market, Open between lunch and dinner hours

Double price for tourist

We went here because of the score, but its true at least double price for tourist. The food was cold and super salty. The place is dirty. There is no normal bathroom. When we entered the staff said 60K per plate, later they wanted to charge us 70K per plate. I have seen that when local guy paid 30K .... Do not go there!!

Pros: Vegan

Cons: Double price for tourist, Super salty and cold food, Staff does not speak English

Really well flavored dishes

After reading previous reviews I was apprehensive but I had no problems with the price and the food was delicious. My boyfriend who is nonveg said it was super tasty as well.

Nice little eatery

Really tasty buffet although with all the mock meats probably not the healthiest! Had no issues with price like others that have reviewed. Guess it’[censored] and miss. Maybe worth asking at the outset?

Yum food. Bad service.

Delicious food, rude staff. It's meant to be 30,000 for a plate yet I got charged 70,000.
I walked in and no one told me what I was supposed to do it was awkward and unfriendly.

Such a cool experience!

Four of us went here for dinner yesterday and it was such a cool experience. The venue is really rough and ready with cramped seating, and is full locals. I hadn’t read many reviews beforehand so it was confusing, eventually the girl who seemed to be in charge explained we get a plate of rice each and we add various foods to this from the buffet. You can also get a bowl of noodle soup instead but we didn’t try this. The staff are very matter of fact and busy, but not rude.

On the buffet there were green beans and lots of other cooked veggies, sauces, lemongrass tofu, some kind of mock chicken (delicious), a dried sweet potato thing which was so strange and tasty! I would say it’s probably not the healthiest vegan option with the mock meats etc but you could make it healthier by leaving these off your plate. They probably use some MSG in some of the sauce as it had that kind of taste.

Another upside is the price - they charged us 150k dong total for four people. I am aware this is probably still a tourist price but honestly, we were all stuffed, so why complain? So so cheap.

The place is packed with locals who sit down and eat very quickly and then leave. I saw some people arrive and leave within five minutes! It’s a really interesting atmosphere and such a nice break from eating in places that are only full of other tourists. Just be aware that is definitely not a place to linger if you want to sit down for a while. They kind of want you out as soon as you have finish eating.

Overall I would really recommend going, we kept talking about how amazing the experience was! And so nice to see a vegan place in such a meat-orientated country, they even had info charts up on the wall about veganism (in Vietnamese of course!)

Pros: Everything vegan (at least when I visited) , Tasty food , Cheap

Cons: Small and cramped with plastic chairs , Very noisy, Confusing when you first arrive

Tasty little buffet style place

At first it was a little jarring cuz it looks like a hole in the wall. But the food was really tasty. Lots of mock meats. We didn’t know how the place worked. We walked up to a guy and he gave us each a plate with rice and then we would choose our sides. I had a full plate and my brother had two full plates. At the end the guy said 100.000 for the both of us.

Pros: Fully vegan, Authentic, Cheap

Cons: Pricing is arbitrary

My most favorite Vegetarian restaurant in Phu Quoc

They have all kinds that you may expect for! Their lunch buffet (you should arrive around 10:30 - 12:30 when the buffet is full and it's the time Vietnamese having lunch!) is awesome! So many choices and you pay around 30,000vnd!

They also have all kinds of noodles soup which I love so much! Ah, vegetarian fresh spring rolls - OMG I can't wait to be back in town and eat there again!

Their pricing accommodates all kinds of budget!

I am not sure about their restroom, which is also important!

Pros: All kinds of vegetarian food, healthy and friendly, Funny chats between members of the owner's family, Price accommodates all kinds of budget

Cons: The place is a bit noisy!, Very few chairs so you may need to rush..., They don't speak so much English

Overpriced

The food was good but when it came to paying they charged us 70,000 a plate. We later found out this is way over the price the locals pay. Doesn’t seem right so we will not be returning and would not recommend this place.

Favourite banh mi in town

as with everywhere we tried to visit in Duong Dong the opening times are subject to interpretation, therefore they may not be open despite signs saying they are open! that said, Khanh Ly was worth the wait and was indeed open on our 3rd visit. staff were friendly and a customer even helped us with translation. the buffet was the best we saw in town and the banh mi was very good, we would come back for sure.

Rip-off

Went there as the reviews (mostly) sounded pretty good.
Didn‘t even get to eat there as the staff were pretty rude and seemingly made fun of us when we wanted to order. They told aus one plate would be 60dong which is ridiculous for a Buffett style vegan restaurant like this (usually 20-40).
So we left...

lots ok mock meat/fish

Standard buffet style restaurant except its a serve yourself. You get a price after you've filled your plate, we paid 40,000 for one and 30,000 for the other which is reasonable. There are lots of mock meats available but only a couple of purely vegetable dishes. Lots of mock fish which i personally am not a fan of! The food we had tasted good and the kitchen and restaurant were clean. Staff are friendly!

Pros: all vegan!, cheap

Cons: lacks vegetable dishes!

decent food, dishonest owner

They serve either rice with mock meat or noodle soup. Both taste very well.
After I've had the noodle soup sometimes and being charged honest 20k, I tried the buffet today. What seems to be the owner then charged me 70k- which is absolutely overpriced. When asking why locals just pay 30k they laughed at me.

Tasty and cheap buffet

Full of locals, which is always a good sign. We got the rice and served ourselves from the buffet, have no idea what the meals were but they were so delicious even my meat eating boyfriend loved it!

They do not have a set price, and very obvious they charged tourists more but we were not worried, 80k for two large meals is very cheap!

Dont go here if you dont like tofu or mockmeats.

Nice and Cheap

Food here is delicious! And cheap! The buffet contains a variety of dishes and you can eat as much as you want. Try not to go to late so you can enjoy all the variety of dishes. Very friendly staff/family.
And centric! Just next to the night market.

Nice

Had Hue style rice noodles (bun bo Nam bo) which was great with fried dumpling, a bit of veg-beef and veg-ham, and a plate of other dishes (rolls, veg-pork belly stew with veg-egg, etc), all were 50.000 VND (July 2017). I prefered non-mock meat so the best was spicy tofu and noodles with dumplings.

nah

Went there with my non vegan friend, when I asked them what is the price, they just yelled to each other something in vietnamese and then decided that would be ok to ask 70k from each of us. We both were suprised by this high price, so my friend left immediately, but I stayed, because I hadn't eaten the whole day. I'm not a big fan of tofu or mock meat, but there was basically no veggies so I had not many options. Food was so salty and full of msg that after I took my first bite I already regretted that I decided to stay. I don't like to waste food so I had to accept my failure and eat unhappily that unhealthy vegan food. After I finished my meal the lady said I have to pay 50k instead 70k. Still too much, but she probably noticed how unhappy I was.

Okay

The selection of mock meats and vegetables was good, first bites was amazing.
After a couple of bites it struck me that the food is actually very salty, and all the gluten in the mock meats left me feeling very heavy and bloated.
Nice with a veg restaurant, but I will not come back.

Buffet style

I just visited this place and was not disappointed. I got a plate of rice and was able to fill it up myself with all kinds of mock meat, tofu and vegetables. I looooove tofu and they had like 3 or 4 varieties, awesome. Price goes up as you add more, but for rice with tofu, vegetables and 1 spring roll I paid 40.000. Will definitely go here again!!

amazing place!

This is definitely the best for vegans in phu quoc. We went there twice a day for 3 days and each time it was great. There is almost no english spoken, and it took us a few goes to work out how it all works, but even the first time with just pointing etc, it was easy. On the 3rd day a woman was there who spoke perfect english and she was super nice, even gave us the advice to avoid the coconut ice cream next door because they add cows milk! It may seem like the prices are arbitrary, but when you're squabbling about 10,000 dong it seems a little silly. The price for a rice plate from the buffet ranged between 35-50k dong for us, getting bigger when we started piling up the food on our plates because we knew it was all delicious and too hard to choose. If you need to be extra careful with your cents, ask for the noodle option (they will understand) and you get a huge bowl of great soup for 20k. It became hard to choose which was better rice or noodles!
They open in the morning, and keep adding to the buffet throughout the day as plates empty, but as it gets closer to the evening they just let the food run out. If you're looking for a rice dish closer to 8 o'clock it's not nearly as good as it was at 1 o'clock, I guess they do it that way to avoid waste which is a great thing. I highly recommend this place.

Good value for money, tasty food

We enjoyed our plate of food each and Tom went back for a second plate (which he half filled). It came to 90,000 dong which we thought was pretty good value as we were both stuffed.

It can be a little confusing but just ask for a plate and fill it up as much as you want. I don't know how they measure the price but it was cheap enough.

Everything was really tasty, some fake meat looking things too. I did have something that made my tongue turn, we think it was fermented tofu which we had heard about (it's like a strong blue cheese) however this was with a sauce so sweet and sickly that it was overpowering, be wary of the tofu looking things.

There were other things on a menu apart from the help yourself food which looked good (like Pho soup) but we didn't try.

Pros: Cheap , Busy with locals, Fully vegan

Cons: Can be confusing , Not a set price
