Serves meat, vegan options available. Bistro at Kesselhaus (not the "Salon" restaurant) is one of the only options for higher-end vegan dining experience in Karlsruhe. Offers a separate vegan menu styled as a four-course set menu, but the items are available individually. Finer dining without being overly formal. Open Tue-Fri 11:30-14:30, Tue-Thu 18:00-23:00, Sat 18:00-00:00, Sun 10:30-14:30, 18:00-23:00.

Good if you like strong flavours - Edit
I had dinner at Kesselhaus a few days ago. We went there specifically for their 4-course vegan menu, which came in at 37 EUR. The location is in an industrial area, but it was fairly full, so I would recommend reserving ahead.
Read moreThe dinner started with small cabbage rolls and tofu cubes, which was pretty good. It was all very strong in their flavours, as were the following dishes, but in this case here, there was also a sweet element of I think goji berries. The second course, a potato and leeks soup (I think) was good, and it again had the sweet touch with a couple of fried crisps on the side with a sweet lemony dip. The main consisted of falafel-like rice balls with a tofu filling, and the dessert was small bit of a sorbet and a kiwi-avocado cake. All in all, it was good, but I wished for a few milder flavours to balance out the strongly marinated and seasoned elements. My take on this is that because it is a restaurant that serves meat, the vegan menu caters to meat-eaters who will complain that something is missing if the flavours are not all very strong. Who knows. Certainly I commend the place for giving it a try and making it work quite well. As to the atmosphere, it is not cheap, not entirely a fine dining experience, but clearly going in this direction. There were people in semiformal evening dress, women with jewellery, let's put it this way. People who had dressed for the occasion. Most people however were entirely casual. It is located in a renovated old industrial building.
Pros: Good food, fine dining atmosphere, nice location
Cons: a bit off the beaten track
