Don’t judge a book by its cover! - Edit
The outside (and honestly inside too lol) are relatively unassuming and give a slight haunted funhouse vibe but the food…can’t say enough good things! The portions are super generous, food is always fresh and ready so quick. You can’t go wrong with any of the menu items and so nice that they give the option to select vegan preference for a majority of items. Highly suggest this place, it’s been around forever and for good reason!

Super cool place! - Edit
This place was so unique. Barman was incredible - he was doing magic tricks for us whilst waiting for our food which was speedy to arrive. Lots of veggie options and plenty of vegan options clearly marked on the menu as ‘v’. One of the highlights of my trip!

Food is $2-3 more per item when you get the bill. Scam!!! - Edit
Food is gross, smelled like the metal bowls they were served in, and everything is $2-3 higher than what’s marked on menus. Super illegal!

Cons: Slow service, False pricing listed, Food smells like metal

Great food - Edit
This is a really good restaurant. The food was good and the portions were really big. The prices are very reasonable. My whole family enjoyed this place. Maybe avoid if you don’t like spicy food. The food is very authentic. A lot of vegan options.

Like heat? - Edit
There's the kind of heat that makes your nose run. And, some heat burns your mouth and throat so much that a glass of water is insufficient. I never experienced such intense heat in a basic Dal soup before! Their Channa Masala and Masala Dosa burned intensely too, plus burned my stomach and was inedible, to me. They called it mild, lol.
Read moreThe waitress was inattentive, never checking on us after the food was served although they were not crowded. I waited awhile then left my table to approach the young woman who took our order and politely explained that I literally couldn't eat the food and asked what she suggested. She gave an insincere apology saying, "It's just Indian food." She had no suggestions for something truly mild. It's not my first Indian rodeo folks. My husband also said it was the hottest Indian food he's eaten and we generally enjoy Indian on a regular basis. Don't misunderstand, it was good and he ate his plus most of mine. I got by eating half of his Dosa minus the Masala. If you like HEAT, this place is for you!
Heads up, they do not offer bottled water, just tap. Not sure if it's true but a local told us SF has problems with high lead in the water. Maybe look into it or take your own if it's a concern.
If you value reasonably decent bathrooms, go before you arrive and after you leave.
Pros: Good portions, Fair pricing, Many choices
Cons: Too much heat; no flexible range from mild to hot, Bathrooms need attention/improvement, Water taste

Great for a casual bite to eat on a day of exploring the city - Edit
Vegan items clearly marked on the menu. Very casual little place but amazing food! Many types of vegan bread offered. If you like eggplant I recommend the Bangain Baratha

poorly educated staff - Edit
Told the server I was vegan, ordered a menu item marked vegan, it came out with nan which is not vegan, and what I thought was tofu was cheese which I spit out. Who ever designed the menu isn't educating the staff on what a vegan is or making sure the items marked vegan are vegan. Had two appetizers also marked vegan, they were very good although who knows if truly vegan

Cons: not actually vegan when ordered
