Fab lunch choices

Popped in because I'd seen a Facebook post about the new 'crab' baguette - it did not disappoint. I've never actually eaten crab before so no idea how close this is, but there was a definite fishy taste, very tasty. Omni husband enjoyed it too - so it can't be too far off the real thing. We shared a coronation chicken baguette too - could have done with a bit more curry powder for us but again a lovely sandwich. The sticky ginger cake was also delicious. I won't leave it so long before we're back.

Good food!

Good soup-of-the-day (roasted red pepper & butternut squash) with warm roll. I took away the components for the tandoori chicken-style naanwich to warm up later - really good flavour! The orange cake slice was very good too. It’s a bit of a walk from central Berwick, but worth it. Lovely host/chef, Tanya. Closed Sun-Mon.
(You can buy a craft beer at Bear Claw and drink it at Karmic Cakery; they share seating outside also.)

Tasty Food!

Although it is a small restaurant, there is a wide selection of dishes. Unfortunately, there was no cake left when we were there. However, this obviously speaks in favour of this restaurant. It is very popular. Friendly people surround this place.

So cute!

This place is cute but small. There are 8 seats inside, but crammed. They have some outside seatings as well. The toilet is outside and probably shared with the brewery next door.

The food is good, especially the Mongolian no beef. The structure of the beef was good and the sauce amazing. Even the fried rolls were very good. The mushroom burger was quite good, but with too much fried elements for my taste. I also thought the banana bread tasted fried.

Definitely worth a trip here, we had 2 lovely mains with friends and then wonderful cakes! The bakewell black cherry cake was a massive highlight and I am still drooling about it hours later! Go here! A lovely spot and nice walk on the beach/ dunes too!

Fantastic cafe

Highly recommended a visit to the karmic cakery. The portion sizes were great and you can tell a lot of time and thought had gone into each meal/treat.

The beat sausage rolls around

Quaint wee cafe just off the promenade. Lovely atmosphere and very friendly staff. But the highlight has to be those garlic and rosemary sausage rolls! Amazing.

Pros: Delicious food, Friendly staff, Cosy atmosphere

Delicious wee bakery

I was disappointed we had already eaten lunch when we called in here as the savoury options looked very tasty. That said I was not disappointed with the cakes we bought - a raspberry chocolate brownie and a jammy dodger sponge cake. The biggest difficulty was in choosing as the 4 or 5 cakes on offer all looked exceptionally enticing.

When we are next in Berwick we will make a point of coming back here for lunch and more cake.

Pros: Nice range of teas, Simple and friendly, Very, very tasty

Cons: Limited seating

Friendly cafe

Very friendly cafe with good choice of vegan food. We got take away and went to sit on the beach nearby. Food was tasty - only 4 stars as the portions were a bit on the small side.

Nice lunch, perfect cakes, in an unexpected location

Real gem of a café in an unexpected ex-industrial location in a backstreet of Spittal a few minutes from the beach. Plenty of outside seating, could get a bit bracing with inclement weather, but when we visited on a Wednesday in early August we had lovely weather and it was really pleasant to be outside. Anyway, more importantly the main savoury dishes were good with some really tasty options available. So to the main event, the cakes: absolutely perfect! We had slices of chocolate ganache cake, and jammy dodger cake which had beautiful texture and taste, absolutely perfect. Hats off to Tania the owner who makes all the cakes and runs the place. Karmic Cakery is a must visit for vegan cake lovers, make the effort and you'll be pleased you did.

Pros: 100% vegan, Perfect cakes, Nice savoury mains

Cons: Limited inside seating if raining

Fab little café

Went on a sunny Saturday afternoon with some friends. They were low on food by the time we arrived (around 3pm), but still managed to get the last two mushroom burgers, chicken equivalent naan bread and some chips. Really nice food and a very pleasant experience enjoying the beers from the brewery next door with the meal (and a nice chat with the stain glass window guy two doors down!). Would highly recommend.

Pros: Food, Ambience, Proximity to brewery! :)

Delicious and worth the drive 😋

Lovely little place, only a few options of cake, but we got both and they were delicious with a pot of coffee for two. Worth the drive up from Kielder!

Also had biscuits and served savoury dishes too.

And I would walk 500 Miles

First came across the wonderful world of Karmic Cakery at Mule on Rouge in Berwick during the Summer of 2018 where they supply vegan cakes to every day. They often don’t last very long, so make sure you get in early. The mint choc drip sponge cake was speechlessly amazing as was the caramel biscoff. If you live anywhere in the border country or even England or Scotland for that matter including Plymouth or Inverness, Karmic Cakery is worth the trip! (in my opinion of course) We also recently popped up to their gorgeous new Spittal home and met the amazing owner and had food al fresco accompanied with beer from the adjacent Bear Claw vegan brewery. The sticky lemon honey chick’n & Rice and home made falafel with cous cous and tsatziki were both sensational. We even squeezed in a couple of coffees with a piece of choc butterscotch and honeycomb cake to share. Check the Facebook page for the latest info and events. This is a truly wonderful place. It really is

Pros: Fabulous cakes , Beautiful setting , Amazing savoury food

Cons: NONE

Vegan Heaven

I love this cafe. It’s really special. My partner arranged a trip for us to Berwick so I could finally sample the amazing cake he had been lucky enough to try a few months ago. The cafe now serves main meals in
addition to cakes so we really did indulge in some seriously stupendous vegan food. I opted for the falafel Pitta with couscous, I’m always a little dubious about ordering falafel as it can be dry but this falafel is one of if not the best I have ever had. We enjoyed our food with some local vegan beer from the cool brewery next door and finished with fabulous coffee and a piece of succulent and scrumptious chocolate cake. Wow!!! We were lucky enough to visit on a sunny day, the atmosphere was fab with people enjoying their food and drinks sitting out. The owners are so friendly and helpful. I really can’t recommend this cafe highly enough and look forward to another trip to Berwick to return to Karma.

Pros: Vegan , Friendly, Delicious food
