The food is great, the staff is very friendly and the location has a wonderful view over the canal with a few historic landmarks in the near vicinity! And even though it is close to the very busy old town this street was actually surprisingly quiet! Big recommend!

Had an excellent dinner here! The setting is very nice right on the river. The food was very good, albeit expensive. Did not appreciate being charged 6CHF for a carafe of tap water though.

They offer seasonal dishes so the menu changes, but they’re always committed to tasty, health forward meals. The veggie burger was great but the chocolate mousse dessert stole the show!

This restaurant was completely full the night we went. Great atmosphere, excellent food and a good wine list. I enjoyed the ‘Autumn plate’ and the Pumpkin Pie. It’s expensive but it’s in Switzerland where everything is expensive.

Best vegan food in 16 years - Edit
My wife and I were Celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary since we married in Luzern. We were amazed at the quality of the meals at Karls Kraut. We chose a mixed vegetarian salad, and a vegetable pasta wrap ( angel hair pasta center, wrapped in vegetables in a rice paper wrap). Both were fantastic. We have been whole food plant based for 16 years and have never had better food. We highly recommend this restaurant. We ate outside, with a beautiful view of the River Reuss and the old downtown. It doesn't get any better that this.

What a pleasure it was to be served delicious, homemade plant based food. A small menu choice, but every dish is prepared with love and a passion for the environment. Can’t fault it, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff.

Tasty food at reasonable prices. I tried their green pea gazpacho, salad, and poppy seed cake. The soup and cake were nice while the salad was quite unexciting (just lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and way too much dressing). The poppy seed cake was by far the best part of the meal. Service was very friendly and the place is comfortable.

If you’re looking for a fancy vegan restaurant for a date in Switzerland, Karl’s Kraut is probably your best option. Located just outside of Luzern’s old town (Switzerland’s most touristy city), Karl’s Kraut offers organic and locally sourced dishes in an warm and intimate setting. We had the starter: Karl's Apéro-Plättli 15.50.- (vegetable sticks served with a homemade dip, roasted caramelised herb nuts, vegetable crisps & various topped crostinis), followed by Polenta Balls 29.00.-(Polenta balls with roasted coconut Szechuan vegetables, red cabbage, pak choi, carrots & edamame topped with a yuzu mayonnaise, sesame coral and coriander oil), and a Burger with sliced baked potato 28.00.- (smoked tempeh burger breaded with cornflakes, tartar sauce, fresh red cabbage, iceberg lettuce & pickled red onions served with spicy oven potato slices) and finally we shared a dessert plate, Karls Dessert Surprise 14.50.- (variation of small sweet treats).
