Best South Indian Restaurant I've Been To...Period - Edit
Update 09/23/18:
Kamakshi's kitchen has recently been converted to DosaChaatCafe. I suspected that the quality of the restaurant was too high to maintain, and the changing schedules has me worried.I wish the new owner's good luck but wanted to write something that explained how incredible Kamakshi's was.
I ate there regularly and brought many people who had never tried South Indian food, each came away loving it. The variety, authenticity and quality of the dishes was unmatched. The owner's enthusiasm for culture (karnathic music was always playing in the background) and uncompromising attitude to quality was clear to everyone. He once mixed a chai in front of me to ensure it was aerated, I now do that with my chai regularly.
Kamashi's kitchen is the best restaurant I had ever been to in my life. I am sorry to see it go.

I've eaten a lot of dosa, from Toronto to NYC, Jersey and San Francisco.
This is the best I've ever had, and the rest of the menu is just perfect...lassi's never taste watered down and you get two parathas with the paneer tikki masala. Right outside San Carlos caltrain makes it perfect to stop at on the commute home. It's nice and clean and there is always good music playing.
I would take my parents here and would have no trouble telling them that they are about to have the perfect dosa.

The food was really great here and the service was phenomenal! They have a good amount of vegan options and everything is clearly labeled. My coworkers and I stopped by here for a quick lunch before heading back to work and it was quite busy as it was Mother’s day, but our server was very friendly and attentive to our needs, questions, and time restraint. He even took time to show my coworker a book about food allergies which was really sweet. We’ll be coming back!
Friendly service, delicious food, knowledgeable on vegan - Edit
We were greeted very warmly. Our server asked if we're vegan, gluten free, like spicy food or have any food allergies, and helped us choose some dishes.
Vegan dishes and dishes that can be made vegan are clearly marked on the menu.
We enjoyed the thali plate and the Manchurian cauliflower was amazing. Will go back.
I have eaten here many times and every time i find something new and incredibly tasty! I am a big lover of spicy foods, and these guys can really bring it. Since it is 100% vegetarian i never have to worry about any animal products. And the owners are SOO nice!
You have to try this place - you will NOT be dissapointed. My advice would be to order from the southern Indian menu as its nice and spicy, and if you ever see the Gobi Manchurian dish, run dont walk there and get it!!
