Amazing food, rough service - Edit
Really quick and efficient service, as others have suggested, the menu has a vegetarian section with items that are vegan however the vegan options aren’t listed and you will need to ask the staff.
Read moreI had the tofu and black bean sauce. Was really good.
Service was really rough, items that you ordered were slammed down, and I was waiting for a bit at the reception desk to be seated without any acknowledgment from the staff but they are obviously busy

Adequate - Edit
It’s crowded and busy but efficient, designed to get your food to you quickly and have you move on. There’s a vegetarian menu section with several vegan options, basically tofu. The tofu in black bean sauce was fine but not something that I would return for…light on the tofu and a little too greasy. The steamed rice was plentiful but mediocre.

Cons: Crowded, noisy and impersonal

Bad experience - Edit
Vegeterian dishes lack of flavour. Menu is misleading, with vegetables they mean salad leaves. Customer service does not exist.

Cheap, fantastic comfort food - Edit
I’ve been coming to Kam Yin for 22 years now, have literally taken hundreds of people here, all of whom then returned on their own. Basic rule, clearly order what you want, state any dietary restrictions and they’ll work with that. Just don’t be surprised if the main course arrives before the starter. Staff is [censored] intolerant, with this place always filled to capacity they can be. Treat them nicely and they’ll be nice in return. Oh yeah, then there’s the food. Try the vegetarian mie hoen (without egg). Difficult to get the rice noodles just right and they manage every single time. Ridiculous price/quality ratio. I’ve seen dozens of people double check the bill as they thought some items were missing.

Nice quick food - Edit
The food was really good; it was tasty and full of fresh veg. The steamed rice was a bit tired so I would maybe go for noodles or fried rice next time. Vegan options aren’t labelled but there were plenty of choices. The service was efficient but not very friendly.

Reliable late dinner - Edit
Arrived in Amsterdam after 8 pm, and once we got settled it was 9 pm. Most choices were getting ready to close for the night. As we were walking through the red light district, this seemed like a reliable choice. The dish I wanted was Surinam fried rice, and although it didn’t state it on the menu, it did have eggs in it, so I’m glad I asked. I also added tofu easily. The veggies that supposedly came with the fried rice was some Napa cabbage. It wasn’t especially flavorful, but spices were similar to American Chinese. It wasn’t special, but was good in a reliable, comfort food way. The food came quickly. They also do carry out from a separate window. We left full and happy.
