Lovely location with vegan options - Edit
A beautiful spot where you can watch cockatoos while enjoying your meal. I had the nourishing bowl (previously zen bowl) which was very satisfying and filling with tasty fresh flavours.

Vegan Scones!! - Edit
I came here for the novelty of having vegan afternoon tea - with scones and tea in a tearoom in the hills. But there is so much more to the Kallista Tea Rooms.
Read moreThe tea rooms were built in the 1940s, it is steeped in history. It's a gorgeous setting, ferns and tall gums, with Cockatoos peering in through the window. There is outside seating for the dogs. Great service, and nice and cozy inside.
The scones were made fresh after I ordered them. But they were steaming hot out of the over and served with a berry jam and vegan cream (that was not coconut I think). Very nice, thank-you very much!
Plenty of options on the menu I noticed, and they are clearly marked. The kitchen had closed when we arrived after 4, but would definitely visit again to sample some of the other food, which looks delicious.

Beautiful spot - Edit
Lovely location with clearly marked vegan options on the menu. I had the veggie stack - unfortunately they had run out of polenta so it was served with a rosti instead - which was delicious. Will definitely be coming back here. They even do vegan scones!

Real cute and heaps of vegan options - Edit
Bloody cute spot, lots of clearly labeled vegan menu items, specials and cakes, service was fast and friendly even when very busy. Huge bay window overlooked a big tree with cockatoos who were overlooking us eat. I’m guessing you wouldn’t make your own kimchi if you weren’t taking yourself pretty seriously as a kitchen... i caught a peek at the cooks who were all wearing those serious chef clothes, so I guess they do. Good food without the pretentiousness, and a cute little small town spot without the garbage food, win win.

Nice hills setting but not many options - Edit
Ate here a couple of times, ordering a vegan brunch dish (labeled as such) and enjoyed it, however the last time we went it seemed the menu had changed slightly and the vegan options were no longer as clearly labeled and there seemed to be less of them. I asked the waitress if the one I usually got was able to be made vegan still, and she said it was. However I am fairly certain that the pesto they gave me had dairy in it (to which I am allergic) as on my way home I had the most terrible stomach pains I have ever had and I was unable to drive as I was keeled over in pain. When I ate it I did think it tasted a bit like actual parmesan but didn't think to question it at the time as I had eaten there before with no problems. Hopefully this was an isolated problem and that they have improved on their vegan labeling. I have been hesitant to try again since then however.

Love the setting - Edit
Beautiful setting, among the trees in the Dandenongs, the vegan burger and beetroot fritters are delicious. Great place to relax and watch the bird life outside, can be busy on weekends and need to book.

Delicious and friendly - Edit
We did not expect there to be such a vegan-friendly place out here! So many options, and the chocolate cake was absolutely incredible, so rich and delicious. I had the soup of the day and the lovely waitress was more than happy to go and ask about what was vegan and even gave me nuttelex with my bread. She was also really accommodating to my friend who has a lot of intolerances. Lovely vibe as well, we watched the cockatoos and lorikeets at the windows while we ate😄and pretty reasonable prices! Would recommend this place to anyone!

Fantastic food - Edit
We got a warm greeting from the staff when we entered, and immediately relaxed when we saw the word 'vegan' on the specials board next to the counter. There were several vegan options, all clearly marked, including burrito, gnocchi and the special, sweet potato, black bean and quinoa fritters. We also noticed a vegan breakfast on the menu too.
Read moreI had the fritters and my partner tried the burrito - we couldn't decide which was better! They came with generous helpings of salsa (burrito) and salad (fritters) and both had avocado too.
On the way out we spotted vegan cakes calling to us from the display, so we got some to go - yum!
Good value, friendly service and fab food! Well worth a visit if you're in the area or fancy a drive! There's also a handy carpark behind the tea rooms too.
Pros: friendly service, great atmosphere, including kids corner and wood f, yummy food

Amazing vegan food in the Dandenongs! - Edit
Went up to see the Dandenongs with friends and this came up as a nearby vegan place. They've got lots of vegan options which are marked on the menu and the staff are really lovely and very happy to cater for vegans.
Read moreWe ordered soy chais to start with, which they were happy to do with maple syrup rather than honey.
For mains, I got the jenga polenta which comes with hot beans, massive polenta chips, and I ordered a hash brown on the side (the hash browns are also vegan).
My friends got the macho nachos, which were very nice, although one of my friends thought the nacho chips were a little stale.
They also have vegan options for desserts, such as carrot cake and others, which we didn't a chance to try this time, but we look forward to coming back!
Pros: Beautiful location, Vegan options marked on the menu, Great service
