Phenomenal experience. I’ve had other vegan fine dining tasting menus before (Ark, Cookies Cream) and this was just as good if not better. Jonathan and Larissa emphasize local ingredients as well as presentation. I mentioned it was my birthday, and my last dessert course had a candle lit which was very kind.

Best Vegan Restaurant in the World - Edit
The best vegan dining experience that we have ever had! Beautiful presentation and complex flavors in every dish. The menu changes seasonally so all the ingredients are fresh and local. Every bite is magical, from the first appetizer to the last dessert! The price (165 euros/pp) is absolutely worth it, there are few if any vegan restaurants in the world like this one.

Have you ever had a meal that makes you giggle and kick your feet with glee? That’s what I got to experience at JOLA. Chef Jonathan Wittenbrink and his team of magicians have created a vegan menu that is seasonal, clever and bursting with flavour. I’ve had vegan tasting menus in other restaurants but have never experienced one that feels so coherent; every dish feeling like it came from the same place and the same mind. I was watching other diners who were a course or two behind me and was jealous of them getting to taste the amazing dishes for the first time. Larissa and Hannah make an excellent front-of-house team and you can tell everyone in the restaurant has genuine passion for the food they’re serving. The service was exemplary and they made me feel so welcome. I was so impressed that all the staff, including the chefs, were serving the dishes and everyone had such great knowledge (in multiple languages!) about the food. They really are a talented team and I’ll be following their careers on social media - I’m certain a Michelin star is in the near future. The whole experience was one I’ll remember for the rest of my life and I’m glad I got the opportunity to thank Jonathan at the end.
Read moreMy highlights of the meal included the clever twist on a salad, delicious charred cauliflower and the rhubarb dessert which ticked all of my boxes. I’ll never be the same now I’ve tasted dill ice cream and I’m sure I’ll spend the rest of my days attempting to recreate it! The meal was worth the high price tag, but I made it more wallet-friendly by not having the drinks pairing.
Overall it was the best meal I’ve ever had and is well worth a special trip to experience.

JOLA is a fully vegan fine dining establishment. It features a surprise 8 course menu - both alcoholic and wine pairings are available, and can be mixed. The restaurant is a rather small place with the open kitchen in the back, where you can catch glimpses of the team at work. Everyone, including the owners (among them the head chef) serves dishes and engages with the customers. Befitting of fine dining, the service was highly attentive - but also very warm and sincere in nature. We had a non-german speaker in our party which posed no problem to the staff who all were proficient in English.
Read moreAs JOLA was founded by former TIAN staff, I think it is reasonable to draw comparisons between the two. Where TIAN seems a bit more traditionally austere in nature, I found JOLA to be a tad more playful in some regards, e.g. in the choice of background music. My partner remarked that while TIAN seems to focus on technique, JOLA provides an overall more intense experience of flavor.
All in all, we had an exceptional culinary experience at JOLA and I can recommend it wholeheartedly.

Absolutely very well decorated restaurant, an open inviting kitchen where you can see how your food is prepared by the chef, the local fresh products used as ingredients, the partnerships with the wine producers, and all the stories come with the extreme tasty plates. They are super friendly, perfect hosts. Kudos to the chef for all amazing food. We left with very full stomaches and a very big smile on our faces.
I wouldnt ask a better delicious night on my birthday! Thank you guys for making it special!
My review goes back to January, a bit delayed. And I am curiously waiting for my plant seeds to grow from the menu of that night!

I don't know where to start, it was my first finedining experience: the food is out of this world, so tasty, new and beautiful. Larissa and Jonathan put so much love in what they are doing and have a great Team:) the great service, ambience (loved the music) and drinks added only up to the fact that we felt so happy and comfortable there.

My favourite probably was the king oyster mushroom with porcini foam and artichoke.
The Staff was really friendly too. I'll definitely visit again for the next special occasion.

Mein Mann und ich waren bis jetzt schon einige Male im JOLA essen (Abends und auch zum Brunch, den sie manchmal anbieten) und wir werden für besondere Anlässe gerne immer wieder herkommen.
Read moreJonathan und Larissa haben ihr ganzes Herzblut in ihr Restaurant gesteckt und man merkt es.
Die Qualität ist einfach Top! Jeder Gang ist immer so unglaublich gut. Wie sie mit Pflanzen spielen ist einfach einmalig.
Dafür zahlt man halt aber auch.
Im übrigen bieten sie manchmal auch Kochkurse an. Das kann ich auch sehr empfehlen.
Wenn ich 10 Sterne vergeben könnte, würde ich es tun.

JOLA prides itself on using only regional ingredients and rightfully so - never before have I had Austrian vanilla (!) or such delicious tomato arrangements. The chef plays with texture as well as with taste, making each course an experience.

Vorab: Ich bin nicht in der Lage diese Erfahrung in Relation zu anderen Restaurants dieser Art zu setzen, da mir bis jetzt der Vergleich fehlt. Die war meine erste fine dining Erfahrung. Was ich mit Sicherheit sagen kann, dass wir im jola 4 1/2 Stunden feinste Geschmäcker erlebt habe. Jeder einzelne Gang bestach durch handwerkliche Raffinesse und die Verwendung herausragender zumeist regionaler Zutaten, die auf den Tellern spannend inszeniert wurden.

Trotz des hohen Anspruchs der Küche und den entsprechenden (angebrachten) hohen Preisen, haben wir das jola nicht als etepetete sondern gemütliches bodenständiges Lokal, in dem eins auch mit sneaker sich nicht als Fremdkörper fühlt. Ich habe auf diese Erfahrung gespart und meinem Partner diese Erfahrung zum Geburtstag geschenkt!

Jola is up there with Gauthier Soho as one of the best places for vegan fine dining I've ever had (not that I've had that many!) but seriously, I'm sure a Michelin rating is around the corner.
Read moreI could write an essay about why this place was so good, but if I had to summarize it, it would be the authenticity and passion of the staff felt in every aspect of the dining experience. There is no pretention here despite the food looking a million dollars.
Every dish had layers of flavor and textures with seasonal and some unique ingredients (like chervil or nettle) and was presented like a work of art. We eat with our eyes too, like they say. The dining experience was about 4 hours and never did we feel like it dragged on. The staff are genuinely kind and you could tell they truly love what they do. If there is only one fine dining experience you can afford in your life (vegan or not), let this be the one.

Read moreBy the end of our almost 4-hours long dinner, I was honestly speechless. Everything was absolutely fantastic, and a couple of times I thought "this must be the best thing I have ever eaten"
From all the dishes they served (more than 12 different ones) the absolute best for me was the Morel & Chervil dish, which literally made me reach Nirvana.
The least impactful one for me was perhaps the Leek & Granola, which compared to all other ones didn't have much character.
The wine pairing was quite nice, but in retrospect I would probably just go with a single glass, or with the non-alcoholic pairing.
We spent around 200 euros per person, but honestly it was possibly the best food I've ever had, and the amount and quality of the dishes was stupidly impressive. Finally, also extra props for an interesting vegan dessert that is not a goddamn sorbetto.
Amazing staff, great and cozy location on top of everything else.
If you visit Vienna and have the money you shouldn't miss it.

Jola bietet nicht nur die 10-Gänge Abendmenüs an, sondern auch regelmäßig (ca. 1x / Monat) einen Brunch mit mehreren Gängen. Larissa & Jonathan nehmen sich Zeit für jeden Gast, die Lebensmittel sind sorgfältig ausgewählt, regional und saisonal, und das Essen war einfach unglaublich gut. Man sollte sich für dieses Erlebnis definitiv Zeit nehmen und genügend Hunger mitbringen!

And now we're talking about the food: it's just amazing. Really. Every single course of the set menu was an experience and I could not say which one I liked most. Also the non-alcoholic beverages that come with the food are super delicious.
I can only recommend with all my heart to visit this amazing place!

DAS Highlight unseres Aufenthaltes in Wien! Ein absolutes Muss für jede/n die/der echte, kreative vegane Küche kennen lernen möchte - weit, weit weg von lahmen Bowls, lapprigen Süßkartoffelpommes oder 0815-Burger-Quatsch, der mittlerweile 95% veganer Restaurantkultur ausmacht. Es wirkt, als wäre jede noch so kleinste Geschmacksnuance lange und wohl besonnen überlegt.

Long story: recently we made it to the new opened JOLA and were really excited. I don't know when was the last time I ate so well! A high-quality 10-course menu is served, with wine or non-alcoholic beverages if desired. Reservation definitely recommended!
Read moreEach course is wonderfully coordinated, tasted and we would have loved to have had a whole main course from each course 😅 but unfortunately you can't eat that much and so we left after almost 3 hours with full stomachs. The restaurant is quite small and atmospherically furnished. There are about 8 tables, so it's pleasantly quiet and not crowded. The kitchen is open - they seem to have everything under control, there is no rush and everyone is in a good mood. We were surprised that the team, despite the recent opening, is already so well attuned and everything is running smoothly.
The experience is very personal, the (kitchen) chef often brings the food himself. Also the service by the manager has to be mentioned here! You can tell when people enjoy doing something and have implemented their dream with passion.
They told us that the menu should change every 2.5 to 3 months in the future - depending on what's in season. Only plant-based products are served. We will be happy to come back for the next menu.

Went soon after they opened and cannot recommend Jola enough! Incredibly delicious and creative all-vegan fine dining, with all ingredients carefully selected - you can tell the owners and chefs really pour their heart and soul into this place.
Read moreThe chefs also serve the food to the tables, so within the first few courses you meet all 4 staff members, which gives it even more of a personal touch.
