You don't know what Vegan means - Edit
I ordered a vegan croissant. Unfortunately the croissants were clearly coated with egg and made with butter. The filling (tofu and cabbage) were vegan but the croissant itself was not. So don't order and rather ask about everything.

The food was good but... - Edit
The staff was friendly and the food tasted good. My husband found plastic or glass in his eggs. So, I guess the vegan dishes are good because I didn't see anything in my food. So, we decided to not eat there again during our trip.

Rico cafe. Pocas opciones veganas - Edit
Pocas opciones veganas. Los cuernitos que ofrecen tienen mantequilla, aconsejo siempre preguntar porq se confunde lo vegetariano con lo vegano. Pedimos cafe con leche de almendras que estaba muy rico y un plato de frutas, super abundante.

So many vegan options!! - Edit
The garden area is beautiful although the service is a little slow so beware if you are in a hurry. There is an entire vegan menu in both English and Spanish! Everything I tried was delicious and fairly priced!!

Great place - Edit
It's not strictly vegan, but they have two menus. Very nice vegan versions of Mexican food that is hard to get without meat or cheese elsewhere!

El Jardin - Edit
Beautiful garden setting, very peaceful and relaxing. Great staff, friendly and attentive. They have an extensive vegan menu. The enchiladas with their mole sauce was really very good as was the rest of the food. Expensive in comparison to other vegan outlets in the area and also serves meat.

NOT veg! Veg friendly, but nice place. - Edit
This restaurant is incorrectly listed. It is a veg-friendly place. It has meat options. They have a full vegan menu, but also a full meat menu. The vegan menu is good. And the garden is lovely. So I do recommend it, it just needs to be relisted appropriately.

Oasis with very good food - Edit
Jardin Tonantzin is indeed set in a beautiful garden where we could actually observe humming birds! The food (I had the chile relleno) was also very good. Interesting and delicious juices. Almost 5 stars!

Delicious vegan food in a chilled setting - Edit
I found this awesome little place through Happy Cow and was intrigued by the garden setting with a fireplace. Loved the chilled, relaxed outdoor seating and thrilled by the extensive selection of vegan options. I asked my server what he recommended- homemade lentil burger with vegan mayo and fries. It was delicious!! Enjoyed chilling in the deck chair reading and having a cup of coffee with almond milk and homemade carrot cake with chocolate sauce. A great place to relax and enjoy tasty, freshly prepared food! Highly recommended!

This place was great. They have a dedicated (and extensive) vegan menu, with lots of traditional Mexican options down vegan. Offered soy/seitan options in many. They had wine, beer, posh/pox and smoothies and juices. All reasonably priced.

Good food, beautiful garden - Edit
This place has more traditional Mexican food veganized. I had Chiles rellenos, but they had all kinds of great things. I almost wish there weren't so many great options in San Cristobal so I could go back and eat lots of different things. A little more on the expensive side, but a great local treat!

Jardin Tonantzin has a new location in one of the oldest houses of san cristobal, just before the Andador-pedestrian walkway.
Read moreIt is in a patio.
Setting has beautiful plants surrounding the eating area. As well there are a fire place, wonderfull to escape the cold.
The food is a great selection. You can choose the interesting vegan menu or the tradition menu. Each dish is prepared fresh at the time of your order. We found the service to be good with friendly staff. We have gone there several times since and each time we experience someone new. The organic vegetables are grown in the back of the restarant. Sandays they organize an nice organic market, fridays open stage with live musik.
Pros: Fresh organic food, exotic garden, nice local staff

Staff/meseras really need instuctions - Edit
The dish was really delicious and something new.
Read moreThey have two cards (both in english and spanisch). One vegan and one "traditional". I don't remember if the traditional one also offers meat but yeah.. the vegan one was really interesting.
One I was kind of disturbed by one of the waitresses. She had no idea of the actual menu and (regarding to one breakfast offer) i asked her something about the price and she answered something absolutely senseless. She was also really unattented and also kind of unfriendly.
But the owners wife (?) was really sweet! :-)
Maybe the restaurant needs a little more time to start good into the business (as they are quite new in San Cristobal)
Pros: delicious, huge garden, Interesting selection of dishes
Cons: one really unfriendly waitress, the kitchen could be faster
