Throwback to student days - Edit
Love the tempura. I frequented the previous address as a student and was so happy to return. The tempura ramen was delicious, as was the teriyaki tofu skewer. Very relaxing to dine in.

Dine in cafeteria - Edit
I didn’t buy anything from the shop as I thought the prices seemed quite high, there are definitely cheaper Asian food markets.
Read moreI did eat at the little cafeteria however and really liked their White Ramen with soy milk and tofu. They only had a small vegan range so I probably wouldn’t come back.
Pros: Vegan options are clearly labelled
Cons: Small and limited seats, Pricey

Love but very pricy - Edit
I love the options and the cute items they offer but it is more expensive than going to any other asian mart

Seems to have changed since last year. - Edit
We used to come here all the time, but following the January 2021 lockdown it seems vegan provision has evaporated. We could not find a single dish suitable on our visit today. There are some vegan groceries but that was it. Must do better.

Japan Centre - Edit
I love Japan Centre and I frequent all three locations (this one and the two Westfield locations). There are plenty of vegan options available at each and you can always find a variety of vegan ramens. They also have a good selection of ceremonial matcha (my favorite) as well as other Japanese products such as cute bowls, molds for rice (like onigiri), as well as makeup and wellness products. Definitely a place to check out!
Read morePS- I often find the vegan ramens mentioned above much cheaper at some local Asian stores, so keep in mind you might be paying a premium here.

Lots of tasty vegan snacks - Edit
Whilst not a strictly vegan place, Japan Centre has plenty of naturally vegan ingredients on sale. You can buy a wide range of seaweed, noodles, tofu and other vegan products that conventional supermarkets do not necessarily stock, for a relatively good price. Not to mention the vast amounts of fresh miso available!
Read moreThere are also plenty of take away (or eat in) options for a tasty and fresh lunch or snack. I would definitely recommend Japan Centre - pop in, buy some new ingredients and add some variety to your meals!

Great food and location - Edit
Really enjoy their spicy tofu eggplant dish with rice.. Fast serving and friendly staffs.. The only down side is I think there could be more vegan selections.

Wide range of delicious vegan takeaway options - Edit
I've been coming to the Japan Centre for many years (following it loyally from two previous addresses) and there are now more vegan takeaway options than ever before!
Read moreFor lunch today (16/04/17), we had sushi rolls with avocado/sesame, tempura vegetable, tempura pumpkin, spicy tofu, inari pouches (sticky rice inside sweet fried tofu pouches), spinach with a delicious sesame dressing, carrot salad with pink grapefruit, cucumber, tomato and coriander, and a GF/vegan flaxseed and sesame brownie. Not super cheap at about £14 each, but it was delicious, super-fresh and very moreish!
You can also buy hot vegetable tempura and marinated tofu skewer things to eat in. There are a few tables but it's a supermarket more than a restaurant so be prepared to take food away if yoh want a leisurely meal.
Loads of vegan-friendly fresh, dried and frozen ingredients, including interesting Japanese fruit and vegetables (amazing mushroom selection!), wide range of tofu, miso, seaweed, vinegars, sauces, teas... The bakery/cake/confectionery section is the only area you might struggle to find a vegan option. The rest is a treasure trove! Itadakimasu! (Bon appétit!)

Love those veggie gyoza! - Edit
This a great place for a lot of "hard-to-find"ingredients (especially for any other Kind-Lifers out there). Brown rice mochi, dried seaweeds, umeboshi vinegar, fresh and frozen lotus root, kabocha and burdock, fresh daikon, a nice range of tofu (but not all organic so read labels carefully). Yummy vegan-friendly takeaway items too!
