Bad. - Edit
Shockingly bad experience. The staff was unfamiliar with the menu and what was/could be vegan. The dragon fruit smoothie bowl was the worst smoothie bowl I’ve ever had. It was completely liquid and when I asked they said that was how it was meant to be but agreed to put more ice in it and reblend it. It did not help. It was also supposed to have mulberries and goji berries on top, but did not. We also got the chat toast which was underwhelming. The coffee was fine but not worth dealing with the rest of it. Seriously, skip it.

Not great, inexperienced with vegan food - Edit
I asked if the dressing on breakfast bowl was vegan, which seemed simple, but took about 5 people and a binder of recipes to answer. It was not. I was able to substitute it with another dressing. However, the smoothie bowl was soupy and the coffee was mediocre, so overall not a great vegan experience

Good breakfasts and decent coffee - Edit
Had breakfast here before a day of exploring the city. We both had the toast. It was great bread (of course!), with a good amount of toppings.
Read moreI had the CHAT - cucumber, hummus, avocado, tomato. Seemed a odd combo, but it worked. Could have done with something a little extra - the avocado was a little bland (a dressing, some seeds maybe?). I also had a coffee - served in a big proper mug! Also, several alt milks available at no extra charge
Didn't try the pastries, but they looked fab!
Pros: Alt milk, multiple, no extra charge, Quick, Fresh, tasty

My corner cafe - Edit
Sometimes I feel like treating myself to something better than instant coffee and head around the corner to Jane on Larkin for a mocha. They offer almond or oat milk options. Their coffee is lovely. They also house the supplies for the Lower Polk cleanup on Saturdays from 11am to noon and offer free brunch to volunteers afterwards. Most recently, I tried their warm quinoa bowl on their weekend brunch menu, which was filling, comforting, and wholesome. I'm so grateful for Jane!
