Pretty good! - Edit
Went here on a whim for lunch today. The ginger mango lemonade was very delicious and refreshing. I had the jerk tofu sandwich with sweet potato fries. The sand which was pretty good, not spectacular, but very filling. The curry sauce that came with the sweet potato fries was delicious though. I added the sauce I had leftover from my fries and ended up having quite the enjoyable meal. I will definitely be returning when I’m back in Santa Fe!

Get the vegan trio - Edit
We got the vegan trio (off menu, recommended in another review) and the jerk tofu. Really a wonderful meal. So glad we came. The menu says the bread is vegan, but the server said it's not, so be cautious.

Solid option - Edit
My family tried the 3 vegan plates and all were very good. The sweet potato fries and cumin fries were also fantastic. Quite disappointing that the roti and pita were not vegan, also no vegan desserts. Service was friendly and understood request for vegan. It's about $19 per entree so not cheap, but the portions were filling.

Ordered the jerk tofu sandwich with sweet potato fries. Veggies were dry as well as the fries. Probably won’t be back.

Limited options, was ok - Edit
We’re big fans of Ethiopian and had heard good things about this spot. It was very busy for a Wednesday evening. IMO the flavors were underwhelming. My partner got the vegan sampler dish and it was just okay. As he put it, “when dining out you want to enjoy something that’s better than what you can make at home…”
Read moreMy tofu jerk sandwich was good, fries were well seasoned, and the mango ginger lemonade was quite nice.
Glad to have tried it but don’t feel the need to return.

Good but not memorable - Edit
I visited Jambo Cafe and had their veggie combination plate - Coconut curried lentils, chickpea bebere stew, and tofu curry- with rice and roti. It was good…not great… it reminded me a lot of Indian food but not quite as spicy/flavorful. I enjoyed it but not enough to go back again.

Flavor Explosion - Edit
Started with the mango ginger lemonade (quite tasty). The paprika hummus was super delicious. The waitress was helpful and steered me towards the combination plate which allowed me to choose 3 vegan options: tofu curry, chickpea berbere stew and coconut curried lentils. Very good. Great vibe and great food here.

Some tasty vegan options here for sure. I had the jerk tofu sandwich on pita and my husband had the lentil stew. Both were full of delicious flavor.

Berbere stew outstanding - Edit
I’ve had Ethiopian food countless times - but the “Ethiopian Chickpea Berbere Stew” here was far better and more flavorful than any I’ve had! Better than NYC and DC restaurants. I was skeptical of eating this dish without the traditional injera bread, but Jambo’s flaky, delicious roti had me forgetting all about it. Our whole party loved our meal and it’s clear this place is a local favorite. We also shared harissa lemon fries. The sauce they came with wasn’t vegan, but the fries were and they were amazing. Take a break from southwest cuisine for one meal and eat here. You won’t regret it.

DELICOUS!!! - Edit
I tried this the other day and it was so delicious! I got the jerk tofu sandwich with sweet potato fries and curry sauce and it was the perfect mix of sweet and savory. I was a bit worried I might not like curry but they did it RIGHT!! Definitely check out this place, a must.

Incredible flavors! - Edit
The vegan selection was limited, but our waiter was knowledgeable and helped us easily find the options. To start, we ordered the side salad without feta - very fresh and delicious. Next we had the sweet smoked paprika hummus plate. This was hands-down the best hummus I have ever eaten! The cook was generous with the spices, and the flavor of the hummus was incredible. Finally, we had the curried black bean and sweet potato soup. Again - this is one of the best soups I have ever eaten because the cook was generous with the spices and the flavor was incredible. I wanted to buy their cookbook for these two recipes, but they were out of stock so I'll have to order online later.

Pros: High wow factor from the spices, Knowledgeable and helpful staff, Very fresh
Cons: Would love to see more vegan options

Excellent! - Edit
It was not on our list when we came here, but our host suggested it. We got one combo platter to go (the young person helping us was great) for the two of us, and we still have enough for another meal!
Read moreThe vegan options are clearly marked. We got the Combo Plate, which was a fantastic mix of flavors and foods.
Pros: Rare to find this cuisine, Ample portions (be ready for leftovers)
Cons: Bread wasn't the best.
