Great food - Edit
This app is not letting me choose 5 starts, but it is! Thank goodness for this place. Vegan options in Charleston are not easy to come by. My husband and I got the most delicious corn soup that was so flavorful and we shared the Butterbean dish which also was bursting with flavors. Our server Olivia was very friendly. A must in Charleston.

Something for everyone - Edit
This place has delicious food and drinks for everyone: vegans and non-vegans. Vegan food is labeled on the menu. Nice quiet courtyard on the back. The Tropical edamame was a hit, and I enjoyed the Argentinian lentil stew. This one was heavy on cumin and in my opinion it overpowered other flavors. But I liked it anyway. Naan bread was fluffy and yummy.

Good stuff! - Edit
Mostly vegan menu, but do have meat items on menu. I had red beans and rice, a carry over from their rotating menu. My wife had the Peanut and Ginger soup. Both were awesome. Good beer selection too! 😉

Authentic and Flavorful - Edit
Had a wonderful lunch in their backyard outdoor seating. Very lovely place to sit and eat. I had the Punjabi dum aloo and wow wow the cashew chutney and pita were absolutely amazing. The dish was a little too spicy for me but still really flavorful.

Pricey yummy Hungarian food - Edit
Rating 4 stars because of the price for what we got. Fairly small bowls of vegan stew with white rice. $16 per dish. The food was warm, flavorful and yummy, so no complaints there. The atmosphere is rustic and fun and service was excellent without being formal or stuffy.

Cute spot with tasty food but why not just go 100% vegan? - Edit
Stayed in Folly Beach and read about Jack of Cups on Happy Cow. Cute spot with character and a fun outside area. 3 vegan options on the menu - we ordered all 3 and they were all very good.
Read moreThings I find hard to understand:
1 - they offer a plant based burger yet the bun(challah) is not vegan and neither is the sauce. What’s the point of having a plant based party then?
2 - they have 3 curry options - one is vegan which is the dahl and it’s delicious. The other two - Channa Masala and the Veggie Korma are vegetarian and not vegan. We were told the Channa contained honey and cotija cheese and the Korma had dairy cream. As a chef I don’t understand why honey is needed in the Channa and why dairy cream cannot be replaced with an alternative like coconut cream for the Korma? Why eliminate 2 other vegan options in such a futile way? Also note that they serve naan which contains dairy - why not use roti which is vegan?
3 - there is only one meat option listed on the menu which is the meatballs. Is that really necessary? Why not just be 100% vegetarian or even better 100% vegan?
All in all a good experience but still left wondering why they have chosen to be somewhat vegetarian and just dabble in veganism?
I would recommend if in the area but would love to see more vegan options.
Pros: A few vegan options , Rustic and authentic folly beach , Good quality food
Cons: Very few vegan options , Many vegetarian options can’t be veganised

Few but good options - Edit
When I went the menu had a few vegan options and mostly vegetarian. It didn’t seem they were able to make most of the vegetarian options vegan either. BUT.... the options that they did have were so good and I have ended up going back there a few times now.

MY FAVE PLACE - Edit
Hands down the best restaurant in Charleston! Although it’s small, the food is amazing and it’s quite an intimate experience. I usually don’t like when menus change often, but it’s so exciting to see what Jack of Cups has planned next. A few vegan options, lots of vegetarian options, and they serve the beyond burger.

Cons: Can get busy with long wait due to size, Serves meat, Not many vegan options

This place is awesome!! - Edit
I want to give this place 5 stars but can’t on the app because it’s not fully vegan/vegetarian.
Read moreI come here every time I’m in Charleston, sometimes more than once. The food is amazing and changes based on the season. Yummy flavors, a lot of fusion original dishes. Tons of vegan and vegetarian options, which are both separated out on the menu. Sit outside and watch the world of Folly go by!

Folly is lucky to have a decent restaurant - Edit
I’m vegan and gluten free and will eat cheese if desperate while traveling. This place always has something I can eat - and it’s always good - inspired flavors! They change up the menu periodically so you don’t get bored. It’s the only place we dine on Folly besides one margarita meal (haha) at Taco Boy and one açaí bowl from the juice joint truck. Past that we eat at home or drive to Charleston.

Worth the wait - Edit
Right on Center St, jack of cups is a small unassuming restaurant that will surprise you. The food is excellent with a variety of cuisine different from the typical seafood/lowcountry grub in Chs. 1/3 of the menu is vegan, and another 1/3 is vegetarian with vegan flexibility. Menu changes with the seasons, so there's always something new to try! It's popular, so expect a wait but there's a nice deck out back to enjoy a beer or wine while you wait 😀

Great Place! - Edit
Jack of Cups is a cozy shack. The food is delicious. Their menu had vegetarian and vegan option to choose from. I ordered the Green lentil Dahl with curry. It was so aromatic. My waitress was Heather and she was super nice and attentive. Didnt have to wait ling for our meal either. She mentioned the house special, which was the Avocado Gazpacho soup, but because I'm vegan that wasnt an option for me. Everything was delicious. I definately recommend Jack of Cups.
