a must go

this was kind of a treat yourself meal, as you need a reservation and it’s a little bit pricier than most places, but well worth it. i ordered the dolsot bibimbap, tofu steak, ginger tea, and their ice cream with plum sauce. ambience was there, flavors were there, service was there. really a nice experience!

Lovely

Had a lovely dinner here and I was generally pleased with our order. However, the hot stone bibimbap didn’t meet my expectations as the stone wasn’t hot enough to crisp the rice at the bottom. Additionally, I think that a bit louder music would have enhanced the ambience which was somewhat awkward with everyone listening in to each other’s conversation.

Perfect Japanese dining experience!

We booked this restaurant after reading the reviews and we weren't disappointed.

The restaurant a traditional wooden Kyoto 'house' in a quiet residential area. The interior is beautiful - understated and elegant (and the choice of background music was perfect too).

The menu is somewhat limited but like many people there we decided to order a variety of side dishes and one main rice bowl.

All dishes were delicious and flavourful. We particularly loved the fried courgette, smoked tofu, and the rice bowl.

Highly recommended if you want to enjoy fantastic Japanese food in a traditional Kyoto setting then this is the place to go.

Pros: Everything!, The restaurant

Cons: Menu is a little limited

An absolute masterclass 🤝

Amazing atmosphere

The place is tucked away in a little machiya and was so cool. The food was also great. The seasonal broccoli dish was my favorite. I also loved the bibimbap and emmen. The black sesame pudding was also incredible.

A Great Stop

At the recommendation of other reviewers, I went to make a reservation for dinner at this spot. On the website, it only offered a 13:00 time, so we reserved that for lunch. When we stopped by, we were surprised that there was nobody else there. So, not sure if it was an off day for them, or if their reservation system wasn't updated?

Regardless, the food was lovely. The emmen noodle bowl had a great savory flavor and more veggies than expected. The bibimbop was a little smaller than we would have liked (or are used to with our own American cooking style), but it was still densely packed with rice and thinly sliced veggies. This was the first time in a while I felt nearly full after a meal while traveling. Would definitely come here again.

Perfect stop, eat, enjoy and take your time.

We didn't bookmark it at first but we came across this little gem. If you want to eat here you need to get a reservation but this is insanely worth it, one of the best vegan menus I've eaten in Japan 🤌

Pros: Great choice, Classical ambiente , Great Service

Beautiful food

The staff here are warm, welcoming and English speaking.

The menu is small but interesting Japanese food.

Be aware that food can take some time as I believe there is a small staff who cook everything to order - but that was not a bad thing to me when the food is so delicious and beautifully cooked as it was. We enjoyed it so much that we asked to make another reservation a few nights later so we pretty much tried the whole menu over the two visits and everything was great.

I recommend you make a reservation because this restaurant is small.

Best vegan springrolls

Service, food was the best. I love how everything is fresh..
The ginger ale was made with fresh ginger and not bought store..
We were there on opening at 6pm on a Sunday night, no one else there so the service was great
Be mindful that the menu is in Japanese so we used google translate, which wasn't an issue for me..
I am staying in Kyoto for another 4 days so will be going back!!!

1.5 hour wait

The food was tasty and fresh, but nothing unusual or unique. We waited almost 40 minutes for appetizers and almost an hour and a half for the main entree. I’m surprised that this place got so many good reviews as the service and exceptional wait time were not acceptable during my visit.

Pros: Fresh, tasty food

Cons: Long wait time, food wasn’t unique or special

Good food in a touristy place

The food here is good, we shared a lot of tapas between two people. Just be prepared that this does not seem to be a place that locals frequent. The location is really pretty.

Pros: It's good to be in a all vegan restaurant

Incredible sake menu

Cute little place but unless you are very lucky, you need to book. Only seats about 14 and on the night we went there were people already queuing to get in. Food was traditional and delicious. Lighting was very conducive to a romantic dinner. Sake menu was extensive and wonderful.

Good

The food was excellent and the atmosphere was good. I'd definitely recommend getting a couple more dishes than you think you'd need because for me they were a bit small, especially for the price tag. We also had to wait longer than usual for our meal.
However, I'd still recommend going just because of the taste alone.

Deliciously CLEAN!

Really nice vibes at this beautiful restaurant. We loved the vegan food, it was so fresh and clean. A great detox from all the heavier food we have consumed in Japan. On the pricier side, but worth it. Also best to make a booking.

Pros: GF options , Vegan , Organic and fresh

One of the best restaurants I have visited in my life

The food was delicious, the presentation of the food was amazing. The staff is extremely nice and welcoming. The environment is so peaceful that you'll enjoy your meal even more.

I loved it so much I went twice while I was in Kyoto only a few days. It's that good!

The food may take time to prepare, but why wouldn't it? It's so carefully prepared ☺️ it's worth the wait. Please be patient, you'll be thankful once you eat the food.

It was fine

Went in early April. It was fine but not amazing like I'd hoped. I arrived solo at opening and they sat me despite having no reservation, which was nice of them! The ambiance and presentation was very nice despite the reasonable price point.

Pros: Beautiful ambiance , Not too expensive

Cons: Food was nothing special
