Waffles! Yes Vegan Waffles - Edit
***Warning, first paragraph has nothing to do about the food. Can skip if you want. Just a bit of my first experience***
Read moreGot there early in the day which was nice. Workers were super nice and aware of what was going on in the restaurant. I didn’t know it was a “order first and then sit” type of restaurant if you wanted to dine in. Someone helped me with that. There was a group of 3 older people who walked in before me. One of them went in line before me and then it was me. When the one person mentioned they were in a group, they signaled for everyone to cut in front of me. I let them go since they did walk in before me but the fact that the worker apologized for them cutting in front of me and taking a super long time when it was finally my turn, I knew the food was going to be good. Sorry, had to mention that experience. Places don’t normally notice things like that.
Food, I got the waffle sticks, the full waffles, a hot mint tea, and a Umami Bowl to go.
I meant to get the waffle sticks with something to dip with. Didn’t think that the strawberry jelly I got with it would be thick and more of a spread on instead. My mistake. I usually don’t eat jelly but saw an option for being vegan so I tried it. Was really good. Had that first.
Next was the full custom waffle. I got peanut butter, banana, and almonds. Comes with a side of syrup and OMGosh! I haven’t had waffles in years since I went plant based/Vegan. So this was a dream come true, especially since I just came back from Japan and couldn’t have any of the cool desserts since most places for vegan desserts were far away from where I was at the time or closed for the day or even closed since they close early.
Waffles were perfect and not too hard. A bit of a chew so you can saver the moment with your toppings. Highly recommend just building your own. Make your own adventure. Some of the premade choices seemed nice but just wasn’t in the mood for them.
Last but not least, I got the Umami Bowl to go for lunch. Was sad that I did that. Probably tasted way better warm. So I’m not going to judge that for this review. I’ll just have to try it again fresh. They also charge a little extra for to go foods. Which is understandable. Still looked very nice and presentable.
*second time at Iron Roost*
Got a Full vegan waffle with peanut butter and banana with an Oat Milk Mattcha Latte.
Waffle was nice. Matcha latte was okay. Maybe a little watered down or maybe it was from the ice. I didn’t mind.

Pros: Vegan Waffles, Plenty of choices for custom waffle toppings , Hot and cold tea options

Would try something else next time - Edit
I got the buffalo cauliflower on a waffle and wouldn’t do that again. The savory waffle is a sort of gelatinous pancake, probably because it’s gluten free. Pics of the sweet waffle look much better. All the toppings are cold and then the waffle is warm, would be better if the cauliflower wasn’t so cold. Overall it would work better in a wrap and avoid that savory waffle. The home fries were delicious but felt overpriced- $5 for a potato seems excessive. Oat milk latte was nice. The place was slammed at 11:30am on a Friday but the service was friendly and the ambience nice.

Good waffle. - Edit
They have a separate, albeit small, vegan menu upon request. Their vegan waffle option is gluten-free by default, and it is honestly fantastic—nothing gluten-free tasting about it! Their home fries are worth mentioning. You can also get tofu scramble, chickpea salad, buffalo cauliflower wrap, and usually a few pre-made baked goods. It’s a cute place, but small, and oftentimes packed with a long wait, in part due to their ridiculous hours and the small window it provides.

Pros: Perfect waffle automatically gluten-free, Separate vegan menu
Cons: Wish they did vegan French toast, Small and usually packed, Closes super early, not open long

5 Star Delicious ***** - Edit
I've been here twice and totally addicted to the Power Bowl. I could eat this every day and not get bored..it's that perfect. 5 stars for sure. I just wish they had vegan butter since they have vegan bread. Would have loved some toast. But honestly the Power Bowl is so filling I don't need it. Just wanted some crunch on the side.

Cons: My only complaint is there's no vegan butter.

Best.Waffles.Ever. - Edit
We had breakfast here as we were traveling through the area and LOVED this place. The staff was helpful and friendly. The restaurant had a great feel to it, very comfortable and casual. The “build your own” with vegan waffle batter topped with vegan cocoa mousse, bananas and slivered almonds was phenomenal. We also enjoyed a few vegan bakery items to go. I definitely recommend this spot.

Great waffles, BUT... - Edit
I went there with my boyfriend today to try their vegan waffles. I got the Sweet Hazel and he got Very Berry (minus the whipped cream). You have to tell them vegan so they use their vegan batter. We both LOVED the waffles. They get 5 stars. My bf said they are the BEST waffles he's ever had. I would highly recommend going based on the food. The 4 star review is only cause of a few negatives... 1) I couldn't get hot chocolate even though they have oat and almond milk cause the chocolate syrup they use isn't vegan. Usually, it's the added milk being dairy that makes it not vegan. It's so easy to make with just cocoa powder, that there's really no excuse to not offer a vegan hot chocolate given they have non-dairy milk and care enough to have vegan waffles. I ended up getting an iced tea. 2) They didn't automatically offer syrup for the waffles and when I asked about it they said they have the sugar kind for free or maple syrup for $1.50, which seems expensive for a small amount to pour over. Plus, they should explain those options when taking your order and ask if you would like syrup. I opted to try mine first before deciding on paying for maple syrup and it was flavorful enough from the mousse that I decided against it. My bf also found his delicious without it, but they should still offer it to you. 3) We sat outside even though it was a hot day cause it's a small space inside and felt more comfortable due to the COVID-19 situation. The sidewalk where we took an available table close to the window of the restaurant was very uneven which caused the table to be uneven and things on it to fall over. They should get the street leveled off, or put something under the table to help even it out.

Cons: No vegan hot chocolate despite non-dairy milk, $1.50 charge for maple syrup, Uneven sidewalk/outside tables

Fantastic waffles - Edit
This was my first time here and I absolutely loved it! It’s very cute, the prices are not bad, very friendly staff. The berry waffles were excellent as well as the seasoned home fries. I also enjoyed the atmosphere, even though it was a bit noisy. If the weather wasn’t so hot today I would have eaten outside. The vegan selection was decent, hopefully they will offer more in the future. The wait wasn’t too long, we used yelp to get in line ahead of time.

Love it here! - Edit
I’ve been going here since I was Omni and I’ve always loved the vibe, it’s definitely something that not everyone is used to so it may take a little getting used to. They’re very busy so it’s helpful to download the yelp app and get in line in order to save yourself a lot of waiting but the options are fantastic! They recently opened up a sister store that is two doors down which offers on-the-go cauliflower wraps, salads, energy bites, and delicious drinks!

Options - Edit
They definitely have options and try harder than others especially when it comes to breakfast. That being said I wasn’t impressed with the waffles or the flavors. Also waited over an hour to eat here, make sure to use the app well in advance before you get there so you aren’t waiting around forever.

Amazing Breakfast/Brunch - Edit
This place is a local favorite for omnivores and herbivores alike. They have a vegan menu with sweet and savory options. I've only ever had the savory waffles but I'm always wowed. All the vegan waffles are gluten-free but I wish they offered regular vegan waffles too. That being said, the texture is really good for being gluten-free. The homefries are also to die for--very well seasoned. The actual space is rather small but it is well planned. There is usually a wait so be sure to go online and get in line before you even arrive. They also offer a wide selection of drinks to please tea and coffee drinkers. I highly recommend this place to anyone who is in town, it is more than worth the wait.

I can't eat dairy or gluten, and their vegan Very Berry waffle is my favorite! It has great flavor, and a fantastic texture! I've also tried the avocado-cocoa mousse with waffle sticks, and it's very good as well. They have fantastic teas too!

Vegan Menu - Edit
This restaurant has amazing food and coffee! Love that there is a vegan menu and a gluten free menu. The cashew cheese vegan waffle is to die for! Also try the Buddha bowl. All ingredients are so fresh. Prices are affordable for super high quality ingredients. I tried to rate this restaurant a 5 star rating, but it won't let me bc it's not 100% vegan. 5 stars from me!
