No longer vegan-friendly - Edit
A few years ago when we were introduced to Indigenous, they had a great vegan entrée. That was true for our first three visits. But the last few times I’ve called to make reservations, they said they had no vegan options on the menu, and Chef Steve wasn’t willing to make anything, even with several days' notice. Fortunately, other local restaurants DO offer vegan options. So long, Indigenous.

unfortunately, Indigenous has become less and less vegetarian friendly over the years... vegetarian options are limited and the chef's "no changes" policy makes it impossible to ask for any modifications... when I've mentioned this, waiters always say "I'll talk to the chef," but nothing changes... there are too many excellent vegetarian and vegetarian- friendly places in Sarasota to settle for two salads for dinner, no matter how tasty they are....

Outstanding food! - Edit
My wife and I ate at Indigenous Saturday night. It is a very comfortable place with an excellent vegetarian option that changes nightly and it can be made vegan upon request. They also have a shaved brussel sprouts salad that is to die for. It includes smoked hazel nuts, roasted carrots, raisins, apples and cider vinaigrette. We definitely plan to go back the next time we are in Sarasota.
