ヴィーガン対応ができる珍しいカレー屋 - Edit

Cheap and delicious - Edit
Shama is a great and cheap Indian restaurant with a lot of vegetarian/vegan options. There’s literally something for everyone. The food portions are pretty big and you definitely won’t leave hungry. Best Indian food in Japan.

Very good food - Edit
If you are craving indian food just go there. The set menus are tasty and affordable. The curry is delicious, also the naan bread with spinach. Very good pizza too - the sourdough is with spinach. Don't forget to try the mango lassi with soy milk.

Amazing value - Edit
The meals here are huge for what you get. One of their smaller set meals a single naan (which was also huge) filled me up to the point I could hardly finish it.
Read moreThe food tastes great too, and is a surprisingly welcome break from the usual Japanese fare. You can choose from around five curries, but can’t choose the level of spice. Almost everything seems to be able to be made vegan too, which is nice.
The staff are incredibly friendly and have excellent English.
Pros: Vegan everything, Great value, Friendly English speaking staff
Cons: Curries are a bit mild

Don't miss the lunch menu! - Edit
Vegan and vegetarian restaurant with different options of curry. The staff is very friendly. It's one of my favourite restaurants in Osaka. Don't miss the lunch menu (vegan dessert included) at a great price.

Food is ok, and the staff is very kind - Edit
They have many options, I tried the curry noodles and it was just ok... I wouldn't choose that option again. It was just dry ramen noodles in curry. With my partner we don't even remember what he had, so it was not very memorable food, but not bad either. What we do remember is that the staff was very kind. An ok option in Osaka.

Nice indian food, very vegan friendly - Edit
Food was nice, but not the best Indian food I had. The options for vegans are really good though. I had a vegan set menu (forgot the name) for 1500 yen and could choose 2 currys, got rice and a big ass nan, salad, soup, tea, samosa and another side dish I forgot the name. My friend had the namaste set menu for 1200 yen. The servings were small for its own, but all together still very filling.
Read moreThey could improve the taste of the currys though, they were not bad but also not that awesome.
Pros: vegan friendly, a lot of options, big set menues

Fantastic. - Edit
Went to dinner here with non-vegan friends and everyone was happy with their meal. The portions are very generous, and the meal is inexpensive — it is rare in Japan for evening meals to be this cheap. The food is very tasty. My partner had the Accha set (JPY1385) and I chose the Veg Pakora set ( (JPY1385). Each comes with a salad (with tofu and greens), a small soup, pakoras, 1 samosa, choice of two types of curries (we had 4-5 options), 1 large nan, a dessert (tapioca peals) and a drink. The only vegan drink was the rooibos tea, maybe it's possible to ask for vegan lassi but we didn't ask (the meal was heavy enough, a lassi would have been too much).
Read moreIt did take some time for the meal to be ready, but the side dishes arrived earlier and kept us from being too hungry. The server also brought me the wrong drink, he gave me a chai (with milk), but it's okay, my friends were happy to finish the drink!
Great to bring non-vegan/vegetarian friends, they really enjoyed it.
Pros: Inexpensive , Food is very, very tasty, Your non-vegan friends will love it
Cons: Service isn't super fast (not a big deal tho)

mmmm how to rate; do their curries qualify? - Edit
I had a dinner menu and my friend had the naanpizza menu plus samosa's. I have mixed feelings about the place.
Read moreTheir salad was laughable; greens with soy sauce (a lot), samosa's ok, their curries were weird tasting; one had a generic vegetable taste and the other a way too sweet peanut like taste.., naan was good, lassie very sweet but still ok. I had a pizza slice: the tomato was sweet and too thin, but somehow the thick layer of cheese still made it tasty, the tabasco didn't.
There were some girls playing a spiritual type of music, it was a bit too loud. But they left. And they weren't too bad either.
And I felt contently full. Also not very expensive. Not sure if they should be top rated, but yeah.

I haven't had naan since I went vegan over two years ago and the vegan naan at this place was better than I remember! The curry with eggplant in it was delicious and I really enjoyed the samosas. Even the small salad as part of the set meal was good. Highly recommend.

delicious! - Edit
Looks a bit dodge when you walk in but the waiter was very helpful he straight up asked if we were vegan and told me there was a vegan naan available. The menu has little milk stickers next to non vegan dishes :) food came out very quickly. We had the steamed dumplings, mixed vegetable curry, chickpea curry and aloo saag (spinach potato) and some chapati bread. Everything was delicious and tasted really fresh. Meal was cheap too! Highly recommend :)

Best Indian Food and Super Friendly Staff :) - Edit
Hands down the best Indian food I've tasted in a long time in a Indian restaurant, and down to earth staff always attentive and kind.

Food was super delicious too, which made our food trip from Shin Osaka to Shinsaibashi much more worthwhile!
We went there everyday during our stay and every time the food was made freshly with care and the taste also consistently delicious :) I loved the Cheese Naan, Malai Paneer and Lassi :)
This is an undiscovered little gem, and I hope many others enjoy the food too :)) Will recommend this restaurant anytime!

sneaky shellfish?? - Edit
I went here for dinner tonight with my partner. We had a great meal, ordered 2 curries, some naan, and rice. Food tastes so good! But when we got back to our hotel I noticed my stomach feeling very off like I was getting a food allergy reaction. Sure enough I became very ill. The only food item I am allergic to is shellfish which leads me to believe it was sneakily in there or it came in contact with it some how. Please be careful if you are a strict vegan/vegetarian and especially if you have an allergy like me!!
Read morePros: all vegetarian food, lots of vegan options
Cons: perhaps sneaky shellfish in curries :( :(

First of all, on behalf of all staff of our restaurant Shama, we deeply apologize for this uncomfortable situation that you had to go through. We absolutely do not use any fish product not meat products, our restaurant is 100% vegetarian due to strict Indian religious order. We will be highly appreciated if you could please tell me which menu did you order at our restaurant? We will go through all the ingredients but chances are very few that could contain any of the animal products. We hope to get your understanding towards this matter and hope you will comeback to enjoy our restaurant again.
