Serves meat, vegan options available. Indian restaurant on a quite pedestrian street in the centre of town. Small, contemporary setting with additional seating out front. One could find vegetarian entrees, but vegans should inquire about dairy use. Kitchen rests from 3:30-5:30pm. Reported closed, Nov 2019.

Bad Indian food - Edit
Very disappointing experience, tasteless starter soup and Karahi that certainly wasn’t Karahi and not very tasty either. Top two on my worst Indian food I ever had-list.

Increased price almost double - Edit
Well this restaurant was the one I will go for the lunch. But the guys change the policy, increased price but the quality stays the same. So now this place is out of my list.

Tasty Indian food - Edit
Tasty food - vegan friendly service who could identify what was vegan, including what didn’t have ghee in. Recommend the dhal and peshwari naan. All dishes tasty but could have been bigger portions. A welcome break from European food!

Helpful staff - Edit
We came here based on the reviews in the Happy Cow app. As soon as we were ready to sit down we said we were vegan. The waitress went to fetch a colleague who was delighted to talk through the menu with us. We have our normal favourite items and these were available, so that is what we ordered (it is our yardstick for a curry place). We were sat outside. The waiter understood everything and I think it was even he who went off to cook it - all seemed very freshly prepared, the chapati was very nice. Ginger stripes on the food were much enjoyed. A relaxed atmosphere and other English couple sat on the table next to us and struck up a conversation. Price similar to what you would pay in the UK. Left feeling full without overstuffed.
Read morePros: Knowledgeable chef, Relaxed atmosphere, Central location (not miles to walk to hotel area)
Cons: No dahl soup (one of our normal starters)

Different knowledge - Edit
The first waiter doesn't know what vegan is. For an indian restaurant a no-go - in my opinion. But the second knows everything, so he didn't offer us the garlic bread, because it's with butter.
Read moreThe food was excellent. Even my girlfriend can eat there, alhough she can't eat anything hot. She ordered an extra non-spicy food.

Weird! - Edit
Went here for dinner in January 2017 as a family of five.
Read moreWe thought it would be more vegan than it was and we found it awful. I ordered a starter of onion bhaji and it was mixed with cheese and baked in the oven. Food was bland and very strange. I wouldn't ever go back.
Pros: Service is friendly
Cons: Weird food definitely NOT Indian., Bland and non-descript food.

Delicious food - Edit
In Madeira it's not very easy to find vegetarian food, but at Indian House we had actually too many options to choose from. The food was really good, and the staff real friendly. Very nice place to sit outside as well.

great food and great service - Edit
We ate here 3 times within a week. They have a few vegan options and the waiter was very helpful when we asked about dishes without milk. Once they accidentally brought us chicken samosas and when we informed them about the mistake, they were sincerely sorry and even brought us clean utensils (with the veggie samosas) because there might be chicken on the once we used. I really recommend this place. It is not easy to find vegan food in Funchal. And this one was super delicious!

Great indian food! - Edit
One of the few restaurants in Funchal that has vegan options on the menu. They had about 8 different veggie dishes to choose from, not all of them where vegan because they had paneer in them but there was still a few to pick from. The staff was really helpful and the food tasted really good!

Lots of veggies with a tasty Indian flavour. You can choose how spicy you prefer to eat. Also paneer available. You can sit outside in a pedestrian zone street. Very friendly staff!!
