Family-owned cafe on the 9th floor of an apartment building in Takahara. Made its menu fully vegan and gluten-free in 2016. Offers a daily lunch plate set plus taco rice, curry, sweets, and drinks. There is a play area for kids, and the space has a view over the city and ocean. Reported closed June 2023.

Read moreLocated on the 9th floor, Imacoco over looks the East side of Central Okinawa. The view is spectacular. And to go with the view, Imacoco offers delicious vegan food.
The size of the menu is not big, including pretty standard veg restaurant dishes like plates, curry, taco rice, desserts and drinks. For the assorted plate, you can choose between tempura fish or soy chicken, which I opted for the tempura fish. Other sides on the plate are all varied and well cooked.
Looking over the view while having great vegan food is an experience hard to find elsewhere.
One thing to note is that the location is a bit far from the bus stop. I recommend using apps like Didi or Japan Taxi app. They basically work just like Uber. Messaging them on Facebook to check whether they are open that day is also a good idea.

It was a very nice, small and cozy location on the 9th floor of an apartment. The food was delicious and the staff was very nice. It was very private as we were the only customers. The view over the sea was nice.

Nice food in a unusual location - Edit
In our japan trip we searched over happycow vegan Restaurants and we found this. There are some parking spots in front and you have to ring to get into the Apartment. The people were very polite and helpful. The food was good, we had the curry and the vegan taco rice. Both very good, especially the Curry. Prize was also ok. I recommend this place :)

Same style, same menu, same people. I'm not a big fan of this type of restaurants but sometimes I have no options.
Read moreAlthough that being said, It was good. Owned by a mom and daughter. Everything is saddle and not trying to be fancy. It could have been even better if they drop all the stylishness - I think more simple style would fit their amazing taste.

We had the curry and it was a delight! The coffee and desert was very good too! I recommend that place, but make sure you have some cash on you! As Foreigners it took us longtime to find an Atm that accept our cards.

This was one of the best cafe experiences I've had in Japan! I had the lunch plate, sweet potato / soy whipped cream and pear cake, and a matcha latte. There is a spectacular view across the bay area below, and the atmosphere and staff are just lovely. Such a unique, special place.
