Ok buffet - Edit
I liked the food. But some of it tasted plane. Obviously it’s nicer for vegetarians. Although the vegan options are good. It’s a pretty hectic place.

Great lunch deal - Edit
As a Roman, I come here regularly for lunch. You pay fixed price to fill your plate and a bowl of soup by yourself. This is a lot of food: I have to be careful not to overfill and waste food, and I like huge portions. The dishes are plenty and range from salads to pulse croquettes. The seitan is to die for. Only downside: the staff is not always friendly.

Cons: Staff not too friendly, Proportion of vegan choices oscillates

Gourmet cuisine - Edit
For people familiar to the Parisian veg*n scene, this is the Roman equivalent of the Gentle Gourmet Cafe: a great place to have a gourmet, high-end veg*n dinner in a nice setting. The food is both original and good, service is formal, the wine list interesting. Expect 50-75 € / patron. Definitely worth a go for an occasion!

OK but expensive - Edit
Il Margutta is a relatively large restaurant but the menu has limited vegan options.
Read moreThey charge for the bread basket (plate) and water but this was not made clear and the price (2 euros each) is not on the menu. This is on top of the 2 euros service charge.
I had the pasta and tempura. Unfortunately the tempura (second course) came first and there was a long delay before I was served the main course (pasta).
The tempura were nice and tasty - the mashed potato and miso worked well.
The pasta with breadcrumbs was dry and chewy.
I was also served a carrot, onion, and peach taster dish (complementary). That was probably the best part of the meal.
The cost of the meal together with a basito (non alcoholic) was nearly 40 euros. This is not good value for money
Cons: Few vegan options, unnecessary extra charges

'All you can eat' buffet for EUR 25. - Edit
The food is delicious, and a lot of choice as well, both vegetarian and vegan.
Read moreThe only downsize is that the option they offer during the day is only one - the quite expensive buffet.
The premises are really nice so at least you can spend a lot of time there.
Pros: Great choice, Really good food

Don't go for dinner if you're hungry - Edit
We were looking forward to a great meal after reading reviews and this restaurant was recommended but honestly don't go if you're hungry and what a delicious filling meal. The portions were beyond tiny and expensive. Lots of friend food which we really didn't want. They made the plate look pretty but honestly it was expensive and we had to go get food when we left.

Small treasure in side street - Edit
We came in around 6pm, when streetfood and buffet was offered (course menue starts at 7:30pm). As I wanted to try different things I chose the buffet. It was small but I still found different choices betwrrn vegetarian options and got full. The price was 12€ for the all you can eat buffet and a soft drink, 15 € if you chose an alcoholic drink.

Fabulous - Edit
I can’t say enough good things about this place. I went for the lunch buffet two days in a row! It’s on a side street near a major shopping area. The lunch buffet had a decent amount of options, most were vegan. The buffet is until 7:30pm and includes a drink, any drink, including cool alcoholic cocktails and it costs 15euro per person. The staff were really friendly and spoke English well and the vibe was great. It’s a beautiful restaurant.

It was good in the sense that there were a lot of vegan options clearly marked, but I felt like that was food too boring to pay 15 eur for a plate

Small selection of vegan options and not very tasty - Edit
Went here for lunch on a Sunday and could therefore only have the buffet which cost 25 Euro. Seemed okay at first and the waiter said there would be marked vegan options. When we came to the buffet the vegan options were mostly side dishes such as couscous salad, pasta pomodoro, fried vegetables. Maybe a bit less than half of the dishes were vegan. Barley any vegan “protein” dishes. The food was also quite tasteless. By the look of it, the dishes that they’d put some efforts in were lacto-ovo vegetarian. Coffee and dessert included. Only 2 out of maybe 6 deserts were vegan (and one was fruit salad..) and the vegan apfelstrudel offered was dry and tasteless. To top it off we first asked to sit outside and were denied but then heard several others being accepted to sit outside even though they had no reservation either. Would rate this experience 1 star but apparently this is not possible on HappyCow if the restaurant is fully (lactose-ovo) vegetarian.

Vegie oasis in Rome - Edit
Stylish restaurant located in a back street near Piazza di Spagna. Large dining room with a bar area and a high communal table.
Read moreThe menu has several vegan offers plus dishes that have a vegan option. All together a lot to choose from, not cheap but reasonable.
The wine list is varied and prices are generally also reasonable.

Vegan Christmas menu was not worth it - Edit
Reading these reviews, it seems like the quality of food is a matter of luck in this place. We had a quite expensive Christmas Eve dinner menu, mine was a vegan one and my husband's vegetarian. Vegan version was often just the vegetarian one minus the non-vegan ingredients. In a vegetarian restaurant in 2017 this is not acceptable. The taste was bland and forgettable. There was absolutely no protein for me. Seats were leather.

Nice lunch buffet - Edit
Came here for lunch with friends, and there were lots of vegan options labeled. For 15 euro, we each got a plate full of food, one bowl of soup or salad, and a dessert. We all loaded up on the delicious food, which was good and interesting for a buffet, and the dessert was decent.

Early Dinner - Edit
Came in for dinner but was a bit early arriving at 6pm so we eat from the the lunch menu. While we would have liked to try the dinner menu the food was excellent. Group of four all tried different selections plus tried four different juices. Juices were the best part of dinner. Fairly small portions but probably due to bring from the lunch menu. Giving 4 stars due to slow service/lack of attention and their Smoothie machine being out of order.

nothing more than an ok - Edit
I went here with my family, and they aren't vegan like I am. I really wanted to give them a good conception of vegan food, but we were disappointed. I've learnt that Italian food is overrated and simple, very minimal, and this was not a exception. We were all surprised about the small potions, despite a high price. The servings would fit a child at the age of 5. The taste was ok but definitely nothing spectacular. I got cold and undercooked rice with too much teriyaki sauce and a little bit of grilled vegetables. The dish was supposed to have "marinated" ginger but it turned out to be just sprayed ginger essence. Quite disappointing. My mom had a Caesar salad which looked bland to say the least. The lasagne was usual. Not a very nice staff. It felt like it was all about business.

No vegan options - Edit
I came to il Margutta for breakfast. Only one of the vegan options stated on the menu was actually available. I ordered the set vegan menu which included a fruit salad, orange juice, espresso and an olive oil tart. I received everything except the tart, which I waited 30 minutes for. At that point I asked the waiter for the rest of my food. The staff told me at that there was no olive oil tart, only a piece of rasberry cake. I had asked what vegan pastries they had before I ordered the meal and said that I did not want the rasberry cake. The waiter was not very friendly, I think because he had trouble understanding me. The orange juice serving was tiny. Also, I have never been served a single shot espresso at a restaurant. I took the cake because it was included in the price. It was quite dry.

Nice place :) - Edit
A little out of the way, but worth it. Vegan very clearly marked on the buffet items. Found it pricey for what was available, but Rome is seemingly pricey anyways so far. Tasty, fresh, service was a bit hit and miss, but not sure if it was because we stood out too much as tourists? Many locals there on business lunches. We went at approx 1pm Monday.

there are better places.... - Edit
Upmarket restaurant, pricey with very small portions. Food was nice enough, nothing special. The artwork on the walls included large canvases of raw steaks with blood dripping out of them, which I found unusual to say the least! There were a couple of bottles of vegan wine available - the priciest ones - but no vegan wines by the glass. When I asked about vegan beers the waiter found this amusing and told me "all beer is vegan, you don't get milk or meat in beer", We found much better vegan options in Rome, and wouldn't choose to go here again.

Classy food - at a classy price - Edit
At lunchtime, this place does a reasonably priced buffet menu. In the evening, it becomes an up-market, some would say pretentious, expensive restaurant. The menu is very creative - we went for one of their 'taster menus' - admittedly the most expensive one (which WAS expensive). A couple of elements were not very inspiring (like the pasta course) but others were delicious - in particular the braised red onion with parmesan ice-cream (as a starter). Gluten free stuff all marked and plenty of choice.

lovely little vegetarian place! - Edit
Stopped in here on a recent trip to Rome after reading lots of good reviews. It lived up to expectations, the food was delicious and the staff were great. The menu was around half vegan too, so plenty of choice. Only thing to note is that it feels a little more up market and is a restaurant, would recommend if you're looking for a nice place for dinner and don't mind paying slightly more than your average prices.
