Good, a little underwhelming

Been wanting to go to the original Sydney location for ages (which has a bigger menu).

Ordered the cauliflower poppers which were just okay. I think they use the bio feta which has a strange chemically taste IMO.

The souvlaki was very good. Nice fresh pita and good tzatziki. Could have used more mock lamb.

Biggest disappointment was the Biscoff cheesecake. Was not creamy, was very hard and tasted like sweet fudge.

For those who care the bar drinks are not all vegan. The food menu is all vegan.

Overall, okay but would not rush back.

Pros: Comfort food , Reasonably priced, Good portions

Cons: Venu small/cramped and smokey, Limited menu compared to Sydney, Lacking the wow factor

Chick’n Parma and cheesecake!

We ate inside the pub tonight. You order on your phone and then get messaged when it is ready. I ordered the chick’n parma. It comes with chips and the toppings are delicious. The chick’n is a really good flavour and texture and the crispy batter on the outside mmmm. The chips were crispy and hot. My partner had the bergy burger and enjoyed it. We shared a slice of the biscoff cheesecake which is amazing.

Sydney rd festival - They had a stall for the Sydney Rd festival as well as the canteen in the Bergy Seltzer so we took the opportunity to try the souvlaki. I ordered the “chicken” protein and my partner ordered the “lamb” protein. I really enjoyed the protein, it was soft, the bread was fresh and it had a good mix of salad. I wanted to try the cheesecake. You go inside, scan your phone and then get a text when the cheesecake is ready. I’m not sure if this is the normal process. It worked well though. The lemon and blueberry cheesecake was incredible. A great texture and flavour. Nice staff.

I saw on their Facebook account (someone asked) that they have all new cooking equipment.

We're souvlaki they've come to Melbourne!

I've heard a lot of good things about I Should Be Souvlaki from folks in Sydney, and I absolutely love to smash a souv, so was excited to try them out now they're here at the Bergy Seltzer. Syd vs Melb rivalry aside, I'm happy to report back that the mock lamb they use is among the best mock meat I've ever had, and would definitely recommend giving them a go. Great tasting souv that brought back nostalgic memories of old school fish and chip shop souvs, although I'd hoped for a bigger size/more filled souvlaki for the price. I got mine with chilli sauce and feta, which were tasty af additions for a few bucks extra. Haven't decided yet whether or not it beats the souvlaki you can get across the road, but it's definitely up there!

Edited to add that the eating/seating area is adjacent to the smoking area and you will almost definitely smell the smoke. Not a deal-breaker for me, but worth mentioning for people sensitive to smoke/strong smells.

Cons: Dining area is adjacent to the smoking area

Yes I was annoyed by that and so sat in the front of the pub this week. It’s 2024, why are people still smoking!

Delicious!

In my top two favourite vegan greek with Staazi and co. I tried it at the big vegan market and it was incredible. The following day my girlfriend and I went down to the canteen for some more. I now have a 200 dollar order placed for their meat replacements 🙏🌱

Pros: The souvlaki was insane, I loved their tzatziki , I loved their chick'n marinade

Cons: Perfection 🌱
