An experience! - Edit
Amazing taster menu with fresh seasonal ingredients. The Hungarian dish was our favourite but they were all excellent. Staff were very friendly and informative. It is pricey but worth every penny. Posh without feeling like you had to wear a tuxedo!

We came to celebrate our anniversary in July. It was wonderful to try something different, the experience was great, however, my husband was not a fan of the food. It was very posh and artsy.

Amazing! - Edit
Went for our anniversary and the whole experience was just amazing. The service is friendly but professional and knowledgeable. The food is just out of this world and a real experience. We had the Short Story which was seven delicious courses. The imagination and knowledge that goes into each course is amazing. It is definitely a lovely experience for a special occasion but also just worth going if you can. I’m vegan but my husband isn’t, and he enjoyed it just as much as I did. It’s just ..wow!!!

Vegan treat - Edit
This was an amazing experience that even meat eaters should try, the food was amazing, we had the full tasting menu, what was really interesting was that they were sustainable so they used produce in season and all local where possible, even the wine were developed in a more natural way .

Special - Edit
Went here for our wedding anniversary and really enjoyed it. The food is a set menu of seasonal dishes. We had 11 in all and they were all interesting and different. We also had the drinks recommended to go with each course. I had the soft drinks and my partner had the alcoholic ones. Again, these we’re all interesting and different. The soft drinks were a mixture of kombuchas and kefirs made with seasonal fruit, veg and herbs. The alcoholic drinks were from small suppliers and naturally fermented. Sl the drinks went really well with the foods they were paired with. We would go again for a special occasion as it’s pretty expensive.

We had our anniversary here and it was such a fun experience - I loved how they knew all about the food and produce they used. Obviously can't be rushing back as it is very expensive but perfect for a special occasion for vegans!

Quirky, but a great way to treat yourselves - Edit
We went here for our anniversary meal, and they've just changed how their menu works.
Read moreApparently used to be lots of small plates for the table, but now have an a la carte menu, or a "seasonal favourites" tasting menu. We went for this (7 courses, £45pp) and had a lovely meal!
Stepped outside our comfort zone with this, but the food was great and beautifully presented. We were full by the end, which we didn't expect at first.
Staff are very friendly and talk you through everything.
A strange selection of non-alcoholic drinks, everything fermented, and I'd have preferred a basic/more usual non-water option!
Pros: All vegan, Beautifully presented, Amazing sourdough
Cons: Pricy, Drinks are all a bit niche

All time favourite vegan restaurant - Edit
We went here on our mini moon and it was honestly incredible. Everything we had tasted incredible and the desserts were easily the best vegan desserts we have ever had. We loved that the restaurant is sustainable using local seasonal veg. The staff were lovely and gave us each a glass of prosecco on the house as it was the week after our wedding. Would 100% recommend!

Fabulous drinks - Edit
Really wanted to love Hypha. Visited with two friends and we ordered nine dishes between us. Food was variable - some fantastic tastes - but overall insubstantial and lacking in variety. Could be good for a light meal if you’re not too hungry. One friend left feeling hungry and very unsatisfied. Friendly and helpful staff. The highlight was the fabulous cocktails and beetroot kefir.

A real treat - Edit
The small plates we had were exquisite. We had Jerusalem artichoke hummus and squash with almond ricotta and we haven’t had such tasty food in ages. We also had the Sunday roast which was really nice but not quite in the same league as the starters. I had a kombucha drink which was unusual and so nice to have a soft drink that isn’t sugary. They make all their soft drinks in-house. My husband had a coffee which he said was first-rate. Sadly no room for pudding! I wish we lived nearer to this place, because we would love to come back.

Sustainable with a heart warming ethos - Edit
A completely vegan plant based resturant with an entirely sustainable menu, from food through to the drinks. Friendly staff who took the time to explain a few dishes and the overall ethos of the resturant. Comfortable setting. All sharing dishes (or not); recommended 2-3 per person. The food comes out as and when ready. Overall we found the food to be of a high tasty standard and enjoyed it immensely!

Expensive, small portions, gourmet food - Edit
We visited Hypha excited to try their unusual-sounding food. It wasn't until we were there that we discovered that the mains are all "small plates" with a recommendation of ordering 5 between 2. Given they are priced similar to mains in other places, this made the meal much more costly than I was prepared for.
Read moreThe food was very well made and presented, and offered a variety of interesting flavours. Everything was very vegetable-y, no portions of chips or fake meat burgers here. That appealed a lot to my wife, but it was less to my taste.
After our 5 plates we had desserts. Thank goodness we did - these were heavier affairs and meant I managed to leave the place not feeling hungry, which I would have done had we skipped dessert.
All in all it cost £50-£60 for a 2-course 2-person meal with a single drink each, which isn't outrageous, but this is not a budget option. A good place for an occasional special occasion if you like their style of food.
Pros: Modern cuisine, Friendly staff
Cons: Expensive, Small portions

First rate vegan dining - Edit
I cannot reccomend this restaurant enough - it is absolutely fantastic. The menu consists of a wide range of 'small plates' - all of which are well thought out and executed. Every time I dine there I try to think afterwards which my favourite dish of the meal was... and I can't choose as they are all excellent! Really good selection of drinks too, including interesting fermented soft drinks. I love the Prima Cabernet Sauvignon, such a delicious red. Service is friendly and efficient, and the ambiance of the restaurant great - a special place indeed. I just wish I lived closer to Chester!

The world would be a better place with more restaurants like hypha! Their ethos of great food and drink with minimal waste and zero animal products is laudable and works. I had a delicious cocktail made with one of their own fermented concoctions. We had 5 plates and a side plus one dessert between 2 of us. It was all lovely. The menu changes daily, dependent on what's available, so there's no point me describing the dishes we had. Just go there and experience it.

Hands down the best food I’ve ever eaten - Edit
We booked for lunch rather last minute, only the day previous. The staff are really down to the earth and have a great energy about them. I have the pineapple and tarragon kefir which was delish. The 2 of us shared 3 plates, 2 extras and one dessert and this was more than enough. The food was out of this world- so amazingly balanced and everything worked together.
