Nice place for brunch

This place was lovely and was pleased that they are dog friendly too.
I had the avocado toast with "nduja" which was very tasty and my partner had the vegan breakfast, which he enjoyed. The atmosphere was relaxed and friendly.

Fake meat butties

This place is cool, for sure, but unless your tastes are fake meats and bread based dinners, there is little on the menu to suit.

More of a grab and run rather than a destination to enjoy food.

Nice but small portions

Came for brunch and had the breakfast burrito. It was fine, but not that filling, could have eaten two. Flat white was nice. Nice to sit outside in the sunshine

Disappointing

Went to Hyde park book club after hearing so many good reviews.
There wasn’t as many options as I thought when I looked at the menu and the options didn’t excite me.
I ordered the vegan hash and we waited for 30 minutes for it to come.
When it came, it was uncooked potatoes with dry lentils on top and some uncooked spinach.
It said on the menu like there would come with a sauce, but there was non at all. It was all very dry and hard.
The cutlery also had a really bad wet dog smell. Also very small portions.

Hyde and Seek

We were really excited to try HPBC after reading some rave reviews and it didn't disappoint. When we arrived we were greeted by the friendly staff and decided to sit outside to be amongst the nice vibe that was evident. From the menu we ordered the facon bagel with roasted cherry tomatoes, spinach and salsa verde and the chicken and avocado bagel with rocket and salsa verde mayo. Both of the bagels were fresh and flavourful and the facon and chicken each had a great texture. The staff even provided a kids bagel for a small charge for our son, which was a nice touch. Definitely a place to visit.

Pros: Excellent food, Staff, Vibe

Not bad food, strange atmosphere.

Nice space but not the friendliest staff, focused more on image than food quality so when we had the brownie here it was dried out because it had been sat on the counter uncovered. I do love that they do vegan hot chocolate though.

Best ‘chicken’ ever!

Lovely space, nice atmosphere, friendly staff. The vegan chicken sandwich is seriously amazing if you’re into your fake meats. Both specials at the time of my visit were vegan and you can make changes to some of the main menu (all vegetarian) to make them vegan.

"Chicken" sandwich was amazing

My partner (veggie) and I (vegan) dropped by and had a bite to eat in the l sunny seating area outfront. I had the "chicken" which was outstanding and using olive bread just nicely finished it off.
While I agree there wasn't much, the food they had was fresh, well put together and delicious.

Toilets, however, are disgusting... Highly recommended holding it!

Pros: chicken sandwich!

Cons: toilets 🤮

disappointing

There wasnt much choice at all for vegans compared with other veggie places. The food was expensive for what it was.

Pros: nice setting

Cons: little vegan options, overpriced

relaxing

Nice little place for a coffee and cake. About half the menu is vegan. Not all the vegan cakes were labelled so good to ask. Friendly staff. The “beef” is delish.

Not just another drop in the Ocean

Well the time had come to pay this fabulous place a visit after following on Twitter for well over a year. It's just on the periphery of Leeds city centre in the vegan friendly student zone of Hyde Park and Headingley. I just knew this place was going to deliver. As the sun was shining, it was natural to want to sit outside. After some great vegan banter with the staff we went for the specials of the day which were a chicken and avocado wrap and a spicy beef chilli bowl with jalapeños and avocado. Both meats supplied by the renowned Vegetarian Butcher of the Netherlands, A couple of glasses of rose wine and some house water made this an immensely enjoyable experience. I urge anyone visiting, living or breathing Leeds to visit the HPBC. It's so much more than simply a vegetarian or vegan eating place.

What a place

I love this place. It's got such a cool and relaxed vibe and is unpretentious and welcoming. There are some good vegan options, not all of the faux meat are vegan, the burger and hot dog are not which we originally chose but changing to a vegan option was not a problem. I had a wrap with 'chicken' and avocado which was sensational, one of, if not the best wraps I have ever had. The 'chicken' was succulent in the middle and crispy on the edges, I didn't want the experience to end, it was so good. We were lucky enough to visit on a sunny day and enjoyed relaxing outside. If you don't live close by and are staying in Leeds City centre, don't be put off by the location which isn't in the centre, it's situated in a nice area and is well worth the short journey by car or bus.

Pros: good vegan options , tasty food, friendly staff

Small, cute, indie cafe,

Nice little place to stop for a snack, coffee or beer.

They serve "the vegetarian butcher" faux meats as sandwiches etc which are really nice. Some of the veg meat is vegan including the fake chicken. Few options on how you can have it; wrap sandwich etc.

They also do breakfest, cakes etc.

Pros: vegan sandwiches, independent, outdoor seating

Cons: Need more vegn options

Great for veggies/vegans who like meat-like veg "meat"

It's great to have a local place with a few different vegan options (and quite a lot of veggy options!), so we tried going to Hyde Park Book Club today. We had a cold bottled coffee, which was good and certainly a generous portion of it! The guy who worked there was nice, we really liked the way the place is decorated and of course super convenient location for lots of people living in Hyde Park/Headingley/Burley/Woodhouse. They also have tables outside so we could sit in the sun!
Food-wise: my boyfriend had a sandwich with vegan "veg butcher beef", and I had a wrap with vegan "veg butcher chicken". Both come with just the right amount of green leaves and tomatoes, and a great selection of vegan dressings, including vegan mayo. My boyfriend liked the food and would recommend it, although not with particular excitement (he's not often super enthusiastic about food to be fair), particularly the "beef", as he thought the "chicken" had a slightly funny texture. For me both definitely tasted nice but was uncannily like meat so I was a bit grossed out. Not sure I'd recommend to long-term vegetarians/vegans for that reason. If there were loads of vegan cafes around it might not be our first choice, but given that there aren't so many places in Leeds I'd probably try it again and see if I can get over my psychological blocks. It would be amazing if they had more vegan options that didn't include veg meat, but I guess that's their speciality so fair enough.

Pros: 3-4 vegan options and lots of veggy options, and e, Nice staff, Great decor, convenient location

Cons: No vegan/veggy food options apart from veg meat
