Jamaican Vegan Goodness! - Edit
I have supported Hummingbird Lounge ever since I first visited them as a food truck at Newtown Tuesday Market, and I am pleased to see them grow and develop as a business. The one part of their growth that I am most excited about is the expansion of vegan products on their menu!
Read moreThe menu holds several vegan options, and as I had pre-planned to have a feastly lunch, I got to enjoy a vegan starter and main and two vegan sides. All the food looked incredibly enticing when dished up, and I was impressed with every single bite I took. The Vegetable Curry and Rice and Peas was a colossal portion, and the food was so well prepared and tasted incredible. The Vegan Jerk Bites packed more of a punch in terms of spice and was my favourite dish on the table. The Jackfruit in this dish was hands down the nicest I have had at a non-vegan establishment! Another nice dish is the Fried Dumplings, which I have ordered during every visit, and I absolutely recommend them as an accompaniment to any dish you have here.
All the vegan items on the menu are labelled, and they sell some Carribean products in the cafe, many of which are vegan. The takeaway menu is slightly different to the sit-in menu, but there are also labelled vegan options on this, and orders can be placed online in addition to via the phone or in person. I highly recommend Hummingbird Lounge to anyone in or near Newtown, and I am sure other vegans will enjoy it as much as I do!

The food was incredible here and they had many vegan options with clear labelling and the staff are very friendly and helpful . The chef is obviously very knowledgeable about creating delicious vegan food
