Great Food - Edit
Only 5-10mon away from the Shanghai Museum this vegan restaurant comes in handy.
Read moreBut don’t get to excited on the menu - 4 plates per person is normally enough.
They didn’t speak English, but the menu card explained everything I needed to order via WeChat.
I’d recommend the chicken, the spicy fried green beans and the golden tofu in the birds nest.
Price was cheap for Shanghai standards - paid 138rmb including one drink

Best vegan food Shanghai - Edit
Look for "Lotus Vegan" on 2nd floor (after going up the steps to enter the building).
Read moreThis was such a refreshing find in Shanghai. The good was exceptional and the staff were so helpful and friendly despite the language barrier. Ordering on AliPay was easy. My husband really enjoyed the food despite not being vegan himself.

Amazing value for money!!! - Edit
Don’t miss out on this restaurant. They have a very interesting menu. Scan QR code at table with Alipay, and use translate to have the English descriptions. Loved the cauliflower pot (bomb of flavor) and topper for me was the tofu, although looks simple, the seasoning makes it super good. Wonton was ok, but personally would not order it again. All together was only 83 RMB !!! since I could not finish all, I still have a nice lunch for tomorrow 😋 the interior of the restaurant is simple, but for me, part of the charm. Lady who was serving me, was super helpful and with the needed Chinese-English translation apps, the ordering very smooth.

After eating cabbage for a week this place was a dream come true! We ordered 6 dishes off the menu and we got a great variety of vegan yummies. For 180¥ we got a table full inc rice and drinks. We ate way too much because it was all so good.

Good food, good service, not easy to find - Edit
Even though it was not easy to find, but it was a life saver. The food was delicious and service was efficient, albeit the language barrier made it a bit challenging. Overall, it was nice to eat with the views of the city and Buddhist chants.

Yummy! - Edit
We had the fried tofu (perfectly fried with a soft interior, and a chili dipping sauce), the wontons (delicious, would order again), eggplant (good but not remarkable), and shredded potatoes (first time trying this dish, a bit too vinegary for my taste but I’m sure others would like it). Staff are friendly but don’t speak English. You just scan and order on Alipay which translates the menu for you.

Yummy and good service - Edit
The food was delicious and the service was great, the only downside for me was that there were many items that were unavailable so we couldn’t get many of the recommended menus. We went early (6:30) so I don’t think they had sold out. I do recommend it for those visiting. The salt and pepper beef was really tasty!

Good food, friendly staff - Edit
This place is slightly hard to find at the moment because they are doing some construction (unless it is done now, but it was like that when I went there a few weeks ago). You go up to level 2 and I think where the seating area is meant to be in front is all under construction. Go to the right and you'll find the kitchen area. They don't speak any English so it's kind of confusing, but the lady was really friendly and helped us order and then showed us to sit in the seating area of a different restaurant on the other side of the construction. All the food was tasty, the wontons and the buns were a hit for us :)

Excellent selection - Edit
Big, diverse menu of favourites. 2 people paid under 200RMB and had to take a big box home, as there was so much! Friendly staff. The place is on the second floor, turn right exiting the elevator. It looks nothing like a restaurant at first, but as others here have said: ignore and walk in, look left and you’ll see the restaurant. See pics which will hopefully help finding the restaurant.

Hidden gem with explosive flavors - Edit
A little difficult to find - and a little rough interior. But let the renovation and construction-like room with one table not fool you. You will taste incredible food for a great price! The vegetables and tofu are so well seasoned and food came in lightning speed. You will sit with other people at one table, which facilitates conversation.

This vegan restaurant served hot delicious authentic Chinese vegan food. The food was enjoyable and delectable. Highly recommend this vegan place to everyone, including non -vegan people. The food tasted wholesome and just like home.

It was a bit difficult to find (without without a map but we did it!). It is inside what appears to be a business block.
It was worth finding and I would highly recommend going if you are in Shanghai. The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to help :)
Fabulous, fabulous food :)

So Much Choice! - Edit
A return to Shanghai meant a return here, this used to be one of my lunch time regulars, when we walked in the main woman recognised us & said we hadn't been for a long time, I told her we no longer lived in China & had just arrived the previous night. We we came here twice on this visit, the first time we had spring rolls, fried noodles & steamed dumplings all as good as I remember. The second visit was with anon-vegan friend, we had the stuffed lotus root, steamed dumplings, wheat gluten, mixed veg curry and a new dish of salt & pepper tofu which was delicious. Our friend was very impressed. This is really a great cheap & tasty lunch spot.
Read moreSo this has now become a regular on my circuit of restaurants. My brother was visiting me and I took him here to try the dumplings but more so to try the battered stuffed lotus root, they are similar to large thick slices of potato in batter that are served in chippies in Manchester where we grew up, also the mixed veg curry was amazing with fried potato, broccoli, mushrooms and carrot, this has become a must have. My most recent visit was with three other vegans, we ordered so much food the owner was worried we wouldn't finish it all, we did all but three steamed buns which we took away. The wheat gluten with veg is delicious, such a light tasty gravy. The walnut buns are almost like a pecan pie, the Buddha cakes are delicious 6 round green pastry cookies with sesame seeds and inside is taro or purple sweet potato. All our food for four people came to 369 rmb which is a bargain. My advice is to bring your own take away container and order more than you eat, you'll be glad to take away the leftovers and have them later. Also the staff are lovely and friendly.

Delicious good value food - Edit
A good simple little cafe restaurant that offers a great selection of faux meat dishes including Chinese and International options. Ordering is done by scanning a QR code on the table. This unfortunately required a smart phone with WeChat installed. As Westerners we do not have access to this service, but thankfully a helpful member of staff gave us their phone to order from. I used my phone with a translation app to do the rest 👍 Payment is via AliPay, WeChat Pay or cash only.
Read moreTo find the restaurant follow the address on Happy Cow and head up the outside stairs next to the large “EAST HUALHAI INTERNATIONAL MANSION” sign and go inside through the doors. You will enter an office building reception foyer. Go straight ahead to the elevator and go to level 2. Exit the elevator and the restaurant is directly in front of you.
Pros: Great selection of dishes, Very good value for money , Helpful staff
Cons: Ordering via WeChat QR is tricky for tourists, No English menu , A little tricky to find

SO yum - Edit
Food was great! Very large portions, we definitely over ordered but the photos on the menu didn’t look to be that big. My friend and I shared a noodle dish, the dumpling soup, a curry soup, and fried tofu. I wish I came with more people to try more items.

Easy to find. Helpful staff via translation apps and hand gestures. Ok prices and variety. Dumplings, mock meats, veggies. Only concern was tough for me to double confirm all vegan due to not knowing Chinese. All signs indicated vegan though!
