I was surprised by how large the list of vegan options is at Hot Wok - they have 29 different meat substitute dishes including dishes made with vegan beef, chicken and duck!
Read moreMe and my partner went for the vegan crispy shredded chicken, vegan sweet-and-sour chicken and vegan duck with satay sauce. Each pot was only £7.20 and they were big! If you're having rice or noodles with the dish then one of these pots would easily be enough for one person, we couldn't finish three between two of us and we were really stuffed!
I enjoyed all three of the dishes - the meat substitutes were flavoursome with nice textures and all three had lots of tasty sauce. I can't fault the food, I really enjoyed all of it. Also, we were ordering with non-vegans and all the pots of food turned up together but the vegan dishes were clearly labelled.
My only criticism of Hot Wok would be that there was no way of knowing by looking at the menu whether any of the rice or noodle dishes were vegan. We were eating with family and they'd made us tofu fried rice so that didn't matter for us but it is a bit of a shame as otherwise we would've had to ring up to check. If it wasn't for that I would've given them a 4/5 because the food itself was really tasty and they do have a great selection.

Update: We ordered from Hot Wok again and it was more of a mixed experience. Again, the food was really delicious but the service was not so good (although it was Mother's Day so I'll give them the benefit of the doubt as I'm sure they were under a lot of pressure). Firstly the food took an hour and a half to arrive and then when it did arrive the Vegan Satay Chicken On Skewers came without any satay sauce. On top of that the vegan dishes weren't even labelled this time so we were forced to work out which ones were vegan by examining the textures of the meat/meat substitutes in the different dishes. That said the food was really good once again with lots of flavour and the vegan chicken skewers were delicious even without the sauce they were supposed to be in!
Update: Order number three and this time we went for vegan chicken with cashew nuts in yellow bean sauce and vegan Thai green curry chicken. Both were really delicious! The Thai green curry was unexpectedly spicy so that wasn't so good for me but the flavour was still really good. The yellow bean sauce one was really delicious and not spicy though so that was good for me!
