Expensive, but delicious!! - Edit
Amazing service and atmosphere. We had the “Unreal” Vegan Ruben with vegan cheese. Since we were the first customers, we had waffle fries and house chips with spicy bbq seasoning on the side (first to use the fresh oil frier, so no cross contamination). The portion size was small, but the quality was on point and flavour and texture was “unreal”. The owner came and introduced himself and we had a great chat. The back patio is enclosed with a ping-pong table and board games, music on TV screens, along with a backyard, garden feel.

Strolled in here because I was looking for some lunch after purchasing some new eyeglasses. I didn’t have very high expectations because usually when a restaurant caters primarily to non-vegan diets the one options they usually have is just to appease us hungry vegans.
Read moreThis restaurant completely shattered this preconceived notion. From the bread to the fillings it was the best sandwich I’ve had in the city. You can taste the attention to detail and that no corners are cut even though I’m not their regular customer. The bread was very delicious and fluffy but didn’t fall apart like most sandwich shops. Everything is made in house.
I was fortunate enough to be able to sit and chat with the owner for a few minutes while I was enjoying my lunch and you can tell he is passionate about what he does and makes you feel so welcome. I definitely plan to return, probably sooner than later.

Perfect rye bread - Edit
A good Ruben needs a good rye. This is one of the best vegan Ruben you can get in the Bay Area bc the bread is so perfect.

Located in the San Francisco Castro district. Unreal Ruben Plant-based corned beef, vegan provolone, spicy brown mustard, sauerkraut, marble rye. Great flavors and the bread was a work of art.

Great Vegan Ruben - Edit
This vegan sandwich is fantastic, complete with vegan meat AND cheese! This shop is a gem in the heart of the Castro. We enjoyed the seating in the back patio.

Not tons of vegan options, but the one they have is great - Edit
The vegan Reuben here is great, unreal meat and still clearly made with love. They also have French fries and potato chips which are vegan as well and a really great outdoor seating area in the back. Great choice for if you’re going out with insistent meat eaters or just want a hearty sandwich.
