A for effort?

In the middle of Gerês, a place with an intrinsic meat tradition, one can struggle to find a vegetarian option - A for the effort of this hostel that offers a vegetarian option that is actually vegan.

The hostel has a modern cosy restaurant open to the public and the staff is very nice.

The meal itself started very well, with a small cute basket of 2 breads, one was broa, typical from the region, the other a normal Portuguese style bread, and some very well seasoned olives.

The main dish is called a wild rice salad, which is completed with wild asparagus, mushrooms and cherry tomatoes. It was well cooked and very good looking, but it was lacking a lot of taste. Probably the chef is used to cook typical meat dishes and offers a vegetarian option that is very well welcomed, but has plenty of room to improve.
