Honestly Good Vegan Salad Option - Edit
Honest Abe's is a place my (far from vegan-eating) family members like to frequent. I happily tag along knowing I can get a salad I'm genuinely satisfied with. The vegan patty makes the salad so filling and flavorful, and the vegan sweet apple dressing adds a nice depth of flavor to the crunchy lettuce base as well. Other toppings (picked red onions, grape tomatoes, cucumbers, sunflower seeds, chopped hazelnuts, etc.) vary by location. It is a decent-sized salad and I never feel like I'm missing out, despite the constant teasing of my family members. Abraham Lincoln famously said, "Those who look for the bad... will surely find it." I look for the GOOD [vegan food] and I surely find [and appreciate] it here!

You have to ask for a vegan bun and patty. Their menu burgers are not vegan and most toppings aren’t (I have made the mistake of getting beans on my burger not knowing it came with bacon in it), and staff are not knowledgeable on what vegan is (most the time). I’m not sure if fries can be made vegan (from cross contamination in oil). Also not sure if the veggie patty is cross contaminated. Ask a lot of questions and be thorough! Their food is pretty popular here in Lincoln.

There is a vegan patty you can substitute, but none of the burgers on the menu are already vegan, and neither are any of their sauces. You’ll end up trying to add/subtract/substitute ingredients until you end up with a bun, patty, veggies, and ketchup. It can get confusing and complicated! The vegan patty is made from beans and oats, and is okay, but not meaty at all. However, you can substitute it for no additional charge.

Happy they offer a tasty vegan patty & bun. I actually like their patty a lot and the fries are good too! I really wish they had more vegan toppings or a burger that was all vegan toppings/bun so you don’t have to modify every time.

The vegan patty they have is ok, but it’s not that great. No toppings are vegan friendly except for lettuce, ketchup, and onions. You have to sub for a vegan bun too so it all adds up to a burger that you can make at home that would taste better and is way cheaper. I appreciate that they do have a vegan patty, but they have a lot of work to do in order to be truly vegan friendly.
