Not a fan of the Mac - Edit
I ordered the vegan Mac and cheese and the flavor seemed really off to me. I didn’t end up finishing the food. For me at least, making Mac and cheese at home would be a better alternative

Comforting and vegan - Edit
Can’t complain - sometimes, you just need a comforting mac’n’cheese and Homeroom just hits the spot.
Read moreThey recently added two more flavor profiles to the vegan options (so 3 total now), but I still prefer the basic one. Their tofu-based sauce is made in house.
I love concepts, where you get a base and can add toppings I whatever liking. They have not once messed up on our order.
While the flavor has always been consistent, I have found big variations how much of the add-ons you get. Overall, not cheap, but worth the price.
Also note their business policies are amazing and their staff gets a fair pay and has a high retention rate (ignoring pandemic craziness).
On a normal appetite, my partner split a vegan Mac (which whatever add-ons) and the vegan Brussels sprouts, and we are full!!
If you need a treat, the vegan, gluten-free brownie is bomb.
Pros: Consistent and good, Brüssel sprouts , Business ethics
Cons: Pricey. Amount of add-one can vary

Athough they don’t have many vegan options, I love their basic vegan mac, brussels sprouts, and brownie. They also have large portions so you can take home leftovers!

Very good cheese sauce - Edit
The build your own Mac followed by the Mexican Vegan Mac was delicious. I was surprised to learn it was tofu based and not cashew, very creamy. Be warned they are quite expensive, definitely good for a nice lunch date.

One of my first vegan mac and cheese - Edit
First thought it was great to find a vegan mac and cheese option, not much to choose from. Tasted okay but over the years I have found much better versions in my travels. Still order it when with others who visit for their regular versions which are more creative

Vegan Breadcrumbs - Edit
I miss going into this place for drinks and whatnot. I got some delivery Mac with breadcrumbs and panicked that they might not be vegan, called the restaurant and they confirmed they are! Not the biggest vegan selection but very decent.

Worth a try!! - Edit
Love the vegan mac from Homeroom. Is it the best mac n cheese I've ever had? No. But is it still something worth trying? Yes! There are tons of toppings you can add to your mac that really make it (including vegan sausage). The "cheese" sauce could definitely use some help, but I love that they are trying to be more inclusive.

Vegan cheese sauce needs work - Edit
I consider myself a vegan mac ‘n cheese aficionado (ew, I can’t believe I wrote that but it’s true). This is my favorite meal and I have traveled all over tasting 100s of vegan macs to compare notes. This one needs help! What they are doing right: lots of combo options, great staff and service, a genius anti-customer sexual harassment policy that you can and should look up on duckduckgo, well-labeled menu, but the none of that matters all that much because vegan cheese is basic and overwhelming noochy. He needs help. If you don’t dress it up with toppings, sauce etc you will be disappointed. I test Italian restaurants for their tomato sauce the same way. If you can’t make a good Margherita, or spaghetti pomodoro, the other dishes are just lipstick on a.... At least they use gluten noodles! They messed up my order by topping it with bread crumbs and gave me a gift card unprompted to make up for it so that was cool.
Read morePros: A couple vegan options (maybe this a con?), Has a pretty amazing harassment reporting system, Good customer service
Cons: Long waits when the dining room is open , Messed up my order with bread crumbs, Taste

I door dashed some vegan mac from these guys when I was running a brewery tour in the area. It was awesome, and the portion was massive.

Vegan Mac! - Edit
There’s only one vegan option, but I thought it was good. There’s a vegan mac and you add your own toppings. The only bummer is that it was kinda expensive since they charge for each topping. My dinner was $18. The servers were knowledgeable and we were seated really quickly.

Cons: A little pricey

delicious mac:) - Edit
i went to homeroom since the day they opened, literally, and all i can say is they really have changed and moved up! the now have a vegan mac (which is delicious btw), and even a vegan brownie for dessert. they also have a togo location a block down for when you want something quick. always accommodates to your needs so if something’s not right, tell them and they’ll be happy to help:)

Wretched vegan mac and cheese - Edit
I have tried their vegan mac and cheese twice now (years apart) and it is easily the worst I've ever had. Seriously, it is nauseating. I took one bite and threw the whole plate away. It even smells bad. I don't understand how a restaurant that specializes in mac and cheese can get it so wrong. If you want decent vegan mac and cheese in the Bay Area, go to Veggie Grill in Berkeley. If you want amazing mac and cheese, you'll have to go to Plum in Seattle -- it is wondrous.

The Vegan mac & cheese is solid. Good taste and texture. I like to add soyrizo and cherry tomatoes for flavor and citrus.
