Chain stocking vegan/vegetarian/health food

This shop is friendly and has a pretty good range of vegan snacks including different flavours of alpro, treats, snacks and basic meat alternatives - mostly frozen. They stock dairy free deserts in the freezer too.

Pros: well stocked, friendly staff, chain shop

Cons: not always that cheap

H&B make vegan easy

While I do prefer to spend my money at independent businesses rather than chains I really like Holland and Barrett. As stated in the entry they offer a good range of tasty vegan frozen, chilled etc as well as the usual soya produce, health food and supplements.

The staff are friendly and helpful and come over as happy individuals rather than cloned wage slaves. The stores are usually kept well stocked so you're unlikely to find they've run out of soya milk again as happens in some other local chains.

H&B are stores, not cafes, so don't expect to eat there. They are usually good for a take away snack though, vegan sausage rolls etc.

H&B stores were probably the biggest factor in making my transition to vegan a couple of years ago easy and convenient.
