Very homy

The food tastes as if an old Indian woman cooked it. As if a friend invited you to their home and let you eat their grandmother's cooking.

Terrific Vegetarian Indian Food

I love Hodu Hak'tana - the staff are always helpful and will note what is vegan or can be served vegan (i.e. swap a yogurt sauce for a vegan option). As a vegetarian I love the paneer cheese in the dishes and my favorite is the Palak Paneer (spinach). All the vegetarian appetizers are delicious and there are so many main dishes that we always get a few and share. They are happy to bring us extra plates. There is plenty of seating both inside and outdoors. There is a phenomenal dessert (some flavors are dairy) called Bhagsu Cake that you must try - its intense and one is definitely enough for 2 people - except we kept wanting to try more flavors. Whenever we have a chance to stop in Beer Sheva we like to go here and we have celebrated some special occasions here as well. I would give it 5 stars for really yummy vegetarian food.... (Yes they serve fish but it is clearly marked and I just avoid it).

Pros: excellent food, consistently delicious, helpful service folks

Great food. Friendly service.

Great for vegetarians.

Vegan options were clearly identified on the menu. They also indicated which non-Vegan items could be made Vegan.

Ordered the thali. Each component was delicious! The service was prompt and friendly. Prices were very reasonable.

The place had a comfortable atmosphere. Appears to be a neighborhood favorite.

Avoid!

Used to be decent. In the last few years not worth the visit. Food is reheated. Taste is not Indian but rather a Western adopted Indian taste. At this price you can get much better and fresh options.

Pros: Location

Cons: Expensive, Not fresh, Not real Indian food

Very good Indian food place

I went there for the first time in 2017 and enjoyed it very much. waitress was super nice and told me everything about which dishes were vegan/could be made vegan (samosas for example come with dairy yogurt so you can just ask to leave it out). I got a tali plate and samosas with a cup of tea, and a delicious laddu for dessert which i don't have any photos of. batata vada were too spicy for me to handle :

Pros: tasety indian food, have discounts for students

שירות טוב מקום נחמד אבל...

אפשר להתאמץ יותר ולהציע מנות טבעוניות נוספות שיהיה אפשר להציע טאלי טבעוני מכובד וכמו כן היה חסר תיבול הודי אופייני.

Hard time for vegans...

Well.. I admit that I'm slightly pissed off on Hodu Haktana.

It starts with the fact that they present themselves as a vegetarian restaurant even though they serve fish..

Secondly, the waiters are often uneducated about what is vegan and what isn't on the menu, so you'll sort of have to insist on them supplying worthwhile information.

Also, the lunch buffet doesn't include vegan options.

Other than that, the food is nice. Not bad, though not amazing. My favourite would be the chickpea masala.

Hodu Haktana - Beer Sheva, highly recommended

This restaurant is one of the best Indian restaurants in Israel. The food is very tasty and fresh. There is a possibility to sit outside, and also inside in an airconditioned room. The atmosphere is great. Portions are generouse, prices are very good. An excelent choice for eating out(takeaway available).

Pros: excellent food, cheap prices, friendly staff
