Authentic and Special - Edit
Trying to find vegan food on the Oregon coast is nearly impossible so it was a great surprise to discover a restaurant that has now become a destination for me. Every few weeks I make the drive out from Portland just to eat here. The menu has a vegetarian section with many vegan options called out. So far every dish I’ve tried has been spectacular. After two trips to India I can vouch for the authenticity too.

Cons: Busy, so sometimes a bit of a wait to eat , You may have to park a block or two away on weeken

Vegan Options! - Edit
My parents & I visited Himani today for lunch due to their positive Yelp & Happy Cow reviews referencing their vegan-friendliness. We ordered the Samosas, the Onion & Spinach Pakoras, the Bendi Masala, the Hyderabadi Bagara Baigan, & the Navarathan Koorma (all of which were vegan except for the latter dish, which my omnivore parents shared). We were very pleased with the kind, efficient service, the portions as well as the flavor profiles of our food, & left feeling like we'd found a place we'd certainly return to if we were visiting Astoria again. I'd also like to mention I've not found a clearer, more expansive menu in Astoria in terms of noting what is vegan, what is gluten-free, & what is dairy-free. Thank you for a lovely meal, Himani!

Definitely 5 stars! - Edit
Some of the best Indian food I have eaten! I ordered two dishes to try as well as a side of rice and some chapatti bread. I was told that none of the naan is vegan and was suggested the chapatti and the tandoor rati, which are both more a tortilla type flatbread. I ordered the chana masala and the aloo saag. Both were heavenly. I left stuffed, basically in a food coma, and I’m not mad one bit. I’m including two photos of the menu. The items marked with a circled V are vegan with the exception of one thing and the butter can be removed. Servings may look small but I do believe that to be the typical serving size and trust me, you will get full! Ordering a side of rice to an entree is $1 or $3 by itself. The bread portion is fairly large.

He picked the Bendi Masala and honestly it is something I wouldn’t have picked before as I’ve never had okra. It was so so good. I enjoyed it so much and am happy to know I am a fan of okra. He made it hot, where as before I just had medium, and it definitely has a kick to it.

The best! - Edit
With not fully vegan options near by this was what I managed to find! I am so glad I came! The food is the best Indian food I’ve ever had! All vegan and/or GF options are clearly labeled on the menu. I will be back when I’m in town for sure!!!

THE vegan stop for dinner in Astoria. - Edit
Himani is a family run Indian restaurant in downtown Astoria. With no fully vegan restaurants in town, this is a great option, with over half of their menu vegan friendly. Not only are they one of the most vegan friendly Indian restaurants I've ever been to, with vegan samosas, naan options, and 5 curries, but also one of the tastiest. Their food just glows. Someone better post pictures. Lovely family too :)
